REFLECTION

As the 2024 to 2025 school year is about to come to a close, mathematics has always taught us
to be observant, to not only double check our answers, but to triple check them, and to think critically. It
also teaches us valuable life skills, like adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. In my opinion, this
school year’s mathematics has been very enjoyable, where we had moments when we were happy,
wanted to cry or simply could not understand the topic.

Ms. Angelika Ferrer, our math teacher for the eighth grade has taught us extremely well, making
our topics feel extremely easy, enjoyable and fun. Her teaching style makes mathematics interesting and
makes math easily understandable by first, discussing the topic and then doing an activity after, which
made us comprehend the topic even more. Through her guidance, we developed a deeper
understanding for numbers, patterns, critical thinking and logical reasoning.

Grade eight math has taught us many things throughout our journey, like solving algebraic
expressions, calculating slopes, linear equations, locating a place, object or person by using a cartesian
plane, permutation, probability and other topics that we have tackled throughout the school year. These
topics are not only used in academics but also in real life and various careers such as engineering,
architecture and businesses. Math has helped us improve many things about us, like our
resourcefulness, creativity and managing our budget correctly. And we will carry this knowledge and
experiences into the real world.

In conclusion, mathematics has shaped us to think critically and solve problems quickly,
efficiently and easily. The lessons we have learned, like algebraic expressions, polynomials to
permutation and probability, will not only serve use in academic studies, but in the professions we want
to pursue. Mathematics is truly a wonderful subject.

Thanks to the guidance of Ms. Angelika for teaching us the beauty of mathematics. The
obstacles we have faced and overcame have helped us grow, and the lessons we’ve learned will stay
with us after this school year.
