Fabric Types
1. PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)
Description: A versatile, cost-effective plastic material commonly used in
fabric for tensile and shading applications.
Pros:
Water-resistant and provides a good level of UV protection.
Durable and flexible, allowing it to be shaped easily.
Commonly coated with PVDF for additional dirt resistance and longer
lifespan.
Applications: Often used in semi-permanent shade structures, flat or
slightly sloped applications. PVDF-coated PVC is particularly effective for
keeping surfaces cleaner and more durable over time.
2. PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)
Description: A high-performance material often used for architectural
fabrics; known for its durability and non-stick properties.
Pros:
Extremely durable and resistant to UV degradation.
Self-cleaning properties, highly resistant to chemicals, and performs
well in extreme weather.
Expected lifespan of 25+ years, suitable for permanent or long-term
installations.
Applications: Ideal for large, permanent shade structures, especially in
challenging environments.
3. HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)
Description: A breathable fabric that provides shade without completely
blocking airflow.
Pros:
Breathable and allows for good airflow, making it cooler underneath.
Excellent UV resistance, lightweight, and cost-effective.
Not fully waterproof, suitable for shade rather than rain protection.
Applications: Perfect for outdoor shading structures, playgrounds, and
areas where ventilation is key and complete waterproofing is unnecessary.
