Violence Against Women Program & BKD Symposium
Emcees: Raia Janina Buen & Travis Louie Montenegro
Travis:
A blessed and radiant day to each and every one present in this hall. I am Travis Louie
Montenegro, and it is my honor to stand before you…
Raia:
…and I am Raia Janina Buen, grateful to join you as we embark on a day filled with purpose,
awareness, and compassion. Today, we gather not only as students and educators, but as
advocates for safety, dignity, and change.
Travis:
May this gathering become a gentle reminder that when hearts unite for a cause,
transformation begins—even in the smallest corners of our community.
Raia:
To begin our program with r pride, may we all rise for the singing of the Nationalistic Anthem.
(National Anthem plays)
Travis:
Let us remain standing as we bow our heads and lift our intentions in prayer.
(Prayer)
Raia:
To open this meaningful occasion, we warmly invite Ma’am Alday to share her message of
guidance and purpose.
(Speech)
Travis:
Thank you, Ma’am Alday, for illuminating our morning with your heartfelt words. Your message
serves as a compass directing us toward awareness and empathy.
Travis:
And now, to deepen our reflections, may we welcome the ever-inspiring Doc. Carmi, whose
wisdom continues to uplift and enlighten us.
(Speech)
Raia:
Thank you, Doc. Carmi. Your presence radiates warmth and hope, reminding us that healing
and protection begin when we choose understanding over silence.
Raia:
Before we journey further, let us kindle a spark of connection with a gentle ice breaker.
Travis:
Our question for today is simple, yet filled with meaning:
“Who is one woman you admire, and why?”
Raia:
Allow me to begin. I admire my mother, a woman whose grace is constant, whose strength is
quiet yet unbreakable—my anchor in every storm.
Travis:
As for me, I deeply admire my older sister, whose resilience paints courage in every chapter of
her life. She inspires me more than she knows.
Raia:
Now, we invite one or two voices from among you to share. Your answer may be short, but its
sincerity will hold great weight.
(Audience shares)
Travis:
Thank you for your heartfelt words. Truly, the women we admire become the light that guides
our own footsteps.
(Use if a guest walks in mid-program)
Raia:
Before we continue, may we pause for a moment of gratitude and highlight a meaningful arrival.
Travis:
We are honored to acknowledge the presence of [Name/Title], whose entrance adds grace
and distinction to our gathering. Sir/Ma’am, thank you for being here—your presence is a gentle
reminder of leadership rooted in service.
Raia:
We warmly welcome you with deep appreciation. May your light continue to inspire the hearts
of those you serve.
Travis:
Thank you, sir/ma’am. And now, we continue with our program.
Raia:
We now open our hearts and minds as we witness a film that mirrors the realities faced by
many—may these scenes stir compassion, reflection, and understanding within us.
(Film plays)
Travis:
The floor is now open for insights, clarifications, or reflections inspired by the film.
(Q&A session)
