Evolutionary Process Model Overview

Evolutionary process models are utilized when requirements are uncertain and a complete product cannot be delivered on time, allowing for limited versions to be released. Prototypes are developed based on known requirements to clarify needs, with client feedback incorporated in iterative cycles until a final product is achieved. The prototyping process involves requirement gathering, identifying known requirements, outlining areas needing further definition, and creating a quick design.

Evolutionary Process Model

1) Evolutionary process models are used when requirements may change and when a complete
sophisticated product cannot be delivered before a deadline, but a limited version can be delivered.

2) When requirements are unclear or likely to change, or the developer is unsure about an algorithm, a
prototype is built to understand the actual requirement.

3) One or more prototypes are developed using currently known requirements before the actual product
is built.

4) A quick design is created in the prototype model. The client evaluates the prototype and gives
feedback, which is incorporated into the next prototype.

5) This cycle repeats until the prototype becomes a complete product acceptable to the client.

Steps in Prototyping:

1) Begin with requirement gathering.

2) Identify whatever requirements are known.

3) Outline areas where further definition is needed.

4) Create a quick design.
