DM Conversation Clarity

(DM Examples so you don’t overthink, get stuck, or get left on read as often)

Finding Targets
Find potential qualified clients through content and research.

Message ALL Notifications:

•New followers/connections
•Story views
•Comments
•Likes (Lead the Like)
•Inbox messages/requests
•Mentions / Tags

Pre-Qualifying
Determine if the lead is a potential fit for what you do.

•Avoid opening inactive accounts.
•Study their bio on Instagram.
•Study their About on Facebook.
•Look for any business links or career information.
•Look for LinkedIn profiles.
•Google name/business name.

Vet & Verify the lead before you engage in communication with them.

Message everyone, but you’ll know who to focus on.

Starting the Conversation

IMPORTANT: We must always read the entire conversation to seek

understanding, and never repeat ourselves.

💪👌🚀 👊
Always use short sentences, minimal punctuation, react with/use emojis
when appropriate, and end with a question.

*SEEK TO CONNECT & UNDERSTAND RATHER THAN SELL

THEM.*

The most effective openers are personal (Be human. Say something
about their profile that a chatbot wouldn’t or couldn’t).

Example Opener:
Hey, Brandon!
Appreciate the [action taken] ex: follow, share, like, etc.
[Personalized comment] ←These work best
That’s awesome.

ONE QUESTION “either-or” (Always end with the question you

want a Yes)

Like this: “Are you here for the content or are you looking for help with
[Insert what you help people with]?”

Once again, you ALWAYS end the question with what you want them to say
YES to. Never, EVER screw this up, or you give them an easy way out of the
conversation.

If they answer content, “Awesome! Enjoy!” If they want help, you know
what to do.

Many times, they answer, “Both.”

Qualifying & Relationship Building

These are questions that show interest in the prospect while gathering
information that will help us gather data to see if we can help them.

Here are examples you can use:
Tell me a bit about your situation. What are your goals?
What have you been doing to achieve these goals?
 Have you tried anything?
How long have you had this goal and struggled to achieve it?
Why do you want this goal?
What are you struggling with?
Want to dig in a bit and see if I can help?

Use the A-B Method/Stretch the Gap.

Building urgency and creating a favorable condition for the sale is critical
early in the conversation.

We can utilize the A-B Method to consistently and effectively move the
client from prospect -> interested -> committed.

The A-B Method is a sales tactic to collect three simple pieces of
information to quickly uncover pain points that can later be used to close
the deal. Examples:

Where are you on your journey now? (Point A, Current State)

Where would you like to be in 12 months? Or… Where SHOULD you
be? (Point B, Ideal State)
What is the primary roadblock between Point A and Point B?
(Biggest challenge)
What are 2-3 things missing to get to [Desired result]?
What do you need most so you’re able to get to {outcome}?
Core Principal #1:

Acknowledge them. Reward/praise the prospect for answering back

throughout the conversation, especially when they give answers that move
the conversation closer to the sale.

This includes any headache/challenge within their situation, admission of

not having the answers or expertise to reach their goals, etc.

Once again, leave an emoji (heart, flex, thumbs up) on any response that
leads closer to the sale and follow it with an immediate response. Examples:

Appreciate that [Name]

Got it [Name] or Understood or 100%
Ok, so making progress
Checked out your pics
Looks interesting
Love it
I hear you
I’ll take a look
Struggle is real
Sounds like you’ve been busy
That sucks
What I’ve found is…

Do you know what Dale Carnegie said everyone’s favorite word is??? Use it
often, but not overkill.

The 6 DM KEY PILLARS

Here are 6 key pillars you must execute:

1. Quickly and seamlessly take ownership of conversations. 98% of
people will NOT reach out to you. You go and get them.

2. Ask direct questions to gain a crystal clear understanding of:

•Current State - Where are they in their journey now?

•Desired State - Where they’d like to be in the future (usually 6-12
months from now)?
•Challenges - What’s stopping them from being there?
3. Challenge limiting beliefs and their commitment to accomplishing
their goals via mirroring.

4. Draw out and pre-handle objections beforehand.

5. Transition to booking a call.

6. Follow up relentlessly until confirmation of enrollment.

Note: I want to emphasize the importance of YOU starting the

conversation. Likes don’t equal cash. Conversations equal cash.

Example Questions for Current State:

How much do you weigh now?
How many pounds do you think you need to lose?
How many days a week are you training?
What’s your sleep like?
What do you think you need to move faster?
What have you tried so far?
What do you think you need most to [solve x]?
Note: Make them feel seen and heard by mirroring their pain/goals back
to them. Examples:

 I get that…
Working on burning fat… I see
Need a better diet… ok
Working on consistency… 100%
Building up strength… yup
Uh oh
Oh no

Example Questions for Desired State:

Determine where they want to be / what their goals are, and suggest how
you can help. Examples:

What’s the big goal?

12-month vision
Need a vision to build towards…
In 12 months, what kind of life would you like to create?
Physique? Income Improvement? Lifestyle? Dating life (If
applicable)?
I need specifics
What’s the big goal with it?
What kind of lifestyle would that allow you?
How will you spend your time?
How would your family benefit from that?

Example Questions for Their Challenges:

What’s missing to reach [insert goal]?
 What else?
What have you tried?
How long has that been going on?
What’s holding you back or getting in the way of building that?
What are the top 3 things getting in the way or slowing you down?
What's been stealing your focus from making X your priority right
now?
How will you feel if you’re in the same place a year from now?
How much do you think you’ve missed out on because of that?

Quick Break - Leaning Out

With these questions, they will start to feel the urge to sign up or buy. But
you must remember that their FEAR will kick in. After all, they just
followed you. You’re still a stranger on the internet.

As a result of their fear, they will lean out. You must lean out, too. Brandon
teaches us that if you push, you get push-back. Stay cool, calm, and
collected in this process.

The fastest way to lose a sale is to oversell. We must lean out when
prospects are leaning out. And you’ll feel it when it happens.

These examples are borderline “dick-ish.” Brandon can give better
suggestions to you all lol.

Examples of leaning out or pulling back:

Hey man, there’s no pressure here. We’re just talking.
 All good dude.
Can only help people swimming toward me.
I only work with the doers.
Here, when you’re ready to level up.
Circle back when you want to move faster.
I typically only work with those who are 100% committed.
Let me know if you get stuck or want to move faster.

Brandon always says for sales that Always Be Closing is wrong and to
always be leaving. Don’t be afraid to leave and lean out with leads.
Takeaways are powerful.
Solutions - Response & Question Examples:

NOTE: Only go here after you’ve tackled their challenges. If you haven’t
tackled their challenges, these questions won’t be as powerful.

Totally. ^ Those are my jam
These are areas I explicitly work on when coaching clients
This is what I do at the highest levels.
Are you working with a coach?
Are you working w/ a fitness coach?
Have you ever worked w/ a health coach?
Do you want help so you can achieve [outcome]?
Do you think having accountability would help accelerate your
progress?
I teach my clients how I lost 30 pounds in 3 months. Would you want
to know how I model that?
I only work with the winners and those who are serious.

 Interested?
 Are you interested?

If they show interest, we transition to testing commitment.

Core Principle #2.

If a lead becomes unresponsive, you must follow up shamelessly and
relentlessly.

Time is the killer of all momentum. TIME KILLS ALL DEALS!

The most effective conversations take place over the course of a single day
from start to finish.

Examples of re-engaging:
Get my DM?
Ping^ ;)
[Name]?
Sorry, I got busy (play dumb)
GIFs

Note: For the solutions, tailor your solution to their specific needs &
challenges.

Whatever words or phrases they used earlier in the conversation, you will
use here. Don’t paraphrase. Use their words, and they will feel more
understood. Example of how to do this:

Let’s say they tell you, “I want to lose weight so my heart doesn’t give out
and I can live longer. I want to be there for my kids and to walk my
daughter down the aisle.”

Formula: [Insert need] to achieve [goal] is right up my alley.

You say:

Brandon, helping people lose weight and live longer is right up my
alley.

And then you choose these options that highlight what DATA you gathered
from them in the chat. Put in THEIR words and tailor your solution to
them.

This is Brandon’s pharmacy example.

I have helped tons of clients:
-Move out of overwhelm and into clear action
-Quickly build a clear custom diet & workout plan to follow
-Dial into their schedule so they don't sacrifice all aspects of life
-Build consistent habits to achieve their goals
-Get clear on their data to be able to track and stay the course
-Remove their confusion through education so they can see progress
-Achieve their perfect physique
-Build a body they’re happy with and proud of
-Taught my clients how to level up their minds as well
-Provided daily accountability so they didn’t walk the path alone

This is right up my alley.
Do you want help with solving X?

When they say “yes”, you must test their commitment.

Testing Commitment
Testing commitment is strategic because most people (myself included)
jump too quickly to get them on a call, and it could trigger fear and send
them running.

When they think you will pitch them and then you test them further, they
will want to prove themselves to you. And that’s what we want. Examples:

I could help you crush it…But I need you to be committed

How important is this to you on a scale of 1-10?
Is this a now or a later thing?
I only work with action-takers. The clients who hit their targets are
committed. Are you ready to commit, or would you rather settle?
Good enough is the thief of incredible
Is this a NICE-to-have or a MUST-have?
Is this a passing want or a burning desire for you?

These questions are insanely powerful. They will be proving themselves to

you and convincing themselves that they will move forward.
Core Principle #3. A chat should have at least 9-10 messages before
scheduling a call.

Brandon, feel free to correct me, but if you go for the call too soon, they
bounce.

Remember, as I said earlier, seek to connect and understand them and their
situation, and you’ll have no problem getting to 9 messages. If anything,
you’ll have a lot more.

When they open to you, you’ll get what’s called “The Love Letter.”
Paragraphs of them typing out their history, backstory, problems, etc., to
you. This is a very good sign.

Once you’ve gotten your data and intel on them and accomplished the
above steps….and you know you can help them solve their problems (never
forget that part), then you transition to booking the call.

Booking the Call

Don’t overthink this part. However, you want to make sure you don’t
commit mistakes right at the end of the DM finish line.

Here’s what NOT to do:

It sounds like I could help you.
Do you want to hop on a 10-minute call with me?

NEVER do that. You’re giving them an easy way out to say, “No” or to ghost
you.

Instead, here’s the example of what you should do:

It sounds like I could potentially help you out.
Let’s hop on a quick 10-minute call to see if you’re a good fit.
I’m free tomorrow at 1 PM or 3 PM.
 What works better for you?

And then you book the 10-minute call.

NOTE: If they ghost or suddenly become unresponsive, go to core

principle #2 and re-engage them.

Follow up relentlessly. And I do mean relentlessly.

Final Thoughts

This is a numbers game. And, as Brandon teaches us, Volume wins.

Message EVERY person who interacts with your content to get 20

conversations per day.

20 conversations over 30 days is 600 conversations per month. You will
only close around 2% of those conversations.

600 X .02 = 12 people.

Volume + Intentional Consistency Wins.

I do this from hospital rooms 5 days a week. You can do this.

“Success is just math.”

Common questions

Powered by AI

To initiate and develop a successful direct messaging conversation, one must first find potential qualified clients through research and engage with all new interactions like followers, story views, and comments. Before starting the conversation, it is crucial to pre-qualify leads by studying their profiles and determining if they are a potential fit . Always seek to connect rather than sell and personalize opening messages to resonate with the individual. The conversation should gather data about the prospect’s current and desired future state and any challenges they face. Utilize techniques like the A-B Method to assess where they currently are, where they want to be, and what's stopping them . Additionally, building urgency and handling objections early on is crucial to drive commitment. Follow-up relentlessly, using direct questions to gauge readiness and commitment to potential solutions .

Follow-up strategies are crucial in maintaining momentum because they address the possibility of waning interest or forgotten engagements from prospects. Time is a critical factor in sales, and the absence of consistent communication can lead to the loss of initial interest . By following up relentlessly, salespeople can re-engage prospects, remind them of their goals, and rekindle their interest in the solutions being offered. Effective follow-up includes recognizing the importance of timely communication and using practices such as checking in smoothly, using the prospect's language to show understanding, and providing gentle reminders of past interactions without appearing overly pushy . These actions help to sustain the sales conversation and increase the likelihood of closing a deal.

Preemptively handling objections and concerns is crucial in sales conversations, which can be achieved through the use of mirroring and drawing out potential objections early. This includes actively listening and echoing the client's language to validate their concerns, demonstrating empathy, and ensuring that the client feels heard and understood . Additionally, by addressing common objections before they arise using insights gathered from the client's current state, challenges, and desired outcomes, salespeople can craft responses that confirm understanding and readiness to address the challenges. This proactive approach helps in reducing client hesitations, increases trust, and can transform potential objections into opportunities for further engagement .

The A-B Method supports the process of closing a deal by clearly identifying and contrasting the prospect’s current state (Point A) with their desired state (Point B). By understanding where the prospect currently is and where they ideally want to be, this method highlights the gap and pain points preventing them from reaching their goals . These insights can be used to tailor solutions that address these specific challenges, making the conversation more relevant and persuasive. By doing so, it effectively moves the client from being simply a prospect to someone interested and eventually committed by providing clear, actionable steps to overcome their roadblocks, which persuades the prospect towards making a purchase decision .

Emojis are considered a useful tool in business communications because they add a layer of emotional expression that text alone often lacks. In the context of direct messaging for sales, emojis help convey tone, clarify intent, and improve the perception of friendliness and approachability. They can effectively break the ice, showcase personality, and enhance engagement by making communications feel less formal and more relatable . By using emojis judiciously at appropriate times, such as reacting to a client’s response, salespeople can acknowledge receipt of information and create a warmer interaction, thereby fostering a more personal and connected environment conducive to building relationships .

'Leaning out' is a technique used in sales conversations when a prospect shows signs of hesitance or fear. It involves pulling back to reduce pressure, indicating to the prospect that there is no urgency or pressure to make a decision immediately. This tactic helps to avoid pushbacks by aligning with the prospect’s pace, ensuring they don't feel overwhelmed or rushed into a decision . It is important because it builds trust and positions the salesperson as a consultant rather than a pushy salesperson who's only interested in closing the deal. This approach often results in a higher conversion rate, as the prospect feels in control and more likely to engage further when they are ready .

Personalization significantly impacts the opening of a direct message by increasing the likelihood of eliciting a response and fostering engagement. It differentiates the message from automated or generic communications, which prospects typically overlook. Techniques for achieving personalization include referencing recent interactions such as likes or comments, or crafting messages that mention specific details about the prospect’s profile that a chatbot couldn't identify, hence establishing a human connection . A recommended approach is to start messages with relatable compliments or insightful observations based on the prospect's social media presence, thus showing genuine interest and knowledge about the person, making them more likely to engage in conversation .

Pre-qualifying leads is crucial in direct messaging because it ensures that resources are spent on individuals or businesses with genuine potential to become clients, thereby optimizing time and effort spent in outreach. Effective methods for pre-qualifying include researching the lead's background through their social media bios, looking for business links or career information, and verifying activity through platforms like LinkedIn or even Google searches for their name or business . By vetting and validating a lead's relevance to the services offered before engaging, salespeople can focus their efforts on building conversations with those who are most likely to progress towards a purchase, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of their overall sales strategy .

The concept of 'Always Be Leaving' contrasts with traditional sales advice such as 'Always Be Closing' by emphasizing the importance of backing off rather than continuously pushing for a sale. This entails being prepared to walk away or pull back if a prospect shows resistance, which helps maintain integrity and respects the prospect's decision-making process . This strategy can be more effective because it places control in the hands of the prospect, reducing pressure and making them more open to pursuing the deal voluntarily. It enhances trust and credibility, as prospects do not feel coerced into making decisions, ultimately increasing the authentic interest and commitment from the prospects towards closing the deal .

Re-engaging with an unresponsive lead is effectively done through timely and light-hearted follow-up methods such as sending a re-engagement message that acknowledges previous contacts or involvement, like "Get my DM?" or appending a playful wink or emoji . This tactic is effective because it respects the prospect's time and gently reminds them of the ongoing conversation without seeming overly aggressive or desperate. It leverages human psychology, prompting a response out of curiosity or guilt about leaving the message unanswered. By using non-intrusive language and humor, it re-opens the dialogue, potentially re-sparking the prospect’s interest and willingness to engage .
