TITTLE : INVESTIGATION ON THE INCREASE OF HIV INFECTIONS IN MUTAMBA AREA.

Stage 1 : Problem identification

Statement or the problem

HIV is spreading in our community due to unsafe practice, low awareness and stigma.

Statement of intention

To investigate the causes and provide possible ways to reduce the spread through education
and preventive actions.

Design specifications

Final product will include educational poster to inform the the community to save the planet.

Stage 2 : Investigation of related ideas

1. posters and street dramas

Advantage: visual and easy to understand

Disadvantage: impact fades quality without follow up.

2. Condom distribution

Advantage: helps to prevent HIV when used.

Disadvantage: Cultural resistance or embarrassment.

3. Clinic healthy talks

Advantage: Expert guidance, real information.

Disadvantage: Few people attend or feel shy to ask questions.

4. Redio massages

Advantage: Widely accessible, especially in rural areas.

Disadvantage: Not everyone pays attention.

5. Peer education

Advantage: Builds trust and open communication.

Disadvantage: Some peer educators are not trained well.


Stage 3 : Generation of ideas

1. Modify existing awareness posters to suit young language and settings.

2. Create new ideas: peer clubs, youth dramas, classroom presentation.

3. Compare effectiveness: poster vs peer talks vs testing compaign.

4. Present ideas using illustration and short sketches.

5. Link between method and behavior change.

Stage 4 : Development of ideas

Selected solution: Community based HIV awareness compaign using poster and simple
language for talks that anyone can understand. Everyone can see the poster in the streets and
the poster is visual and easy to understand.

Stage 5 : presentation of final solution

People in the streets are now going to the near by clinic being tested. If the person in HIV
positive, he / she will be given counseling and also medicine and some of them are being given
condom for protection.

Recommendations

-Repeat creating posters more often.

-Lack of ability to create convincing posters

-Encouraged ope discussion and improved knowledge on HIV.
