Hello everyone, I'm (A)

I’m (B)
And I'm (C
(Hook)
(Introducing the title and the book)
This book provides absurd suggestions based on scientific fact on ways to solve some common
daily problems. Through absurd examples Munroe invited readers to explore the science and
technology
underlying everyday actions in a mind-bending way.
(By exploring the most complicated ways to do simple tasks, Munroe doesn't just make things
difficult for himself and his readers. As he did so brilliantly in another book What If?, Munroe
invites us to explore the most absurd reaches of the possible. Full of clever infographics and fun
illustrations, How To is a delightfully mind-bending way to better understand the science and
technology underlying the things we do every day.)

(In an outlet)
A: Sorry I'm late! Have you been waiting for so long?
B: Never mind, just late for 5 mins only… or you wait for 3 more minutes. I'm almost defeat the
boss! (start murmuring)
(suddenly) Ah! (frustrated) My phone runs out of battery!
A:oh….. what a pity…
B: huh never mind…. do u have a charger?
A: Let me find find…I don't have one either…

If you were (student B), what will you do when your phone is out of battery?
(Ask questions + interaction)

Oh yes, borrowing a charger to charge your phone is definitely the most common way to deal
with this problem when we were in this situation. But have you ever think of other different ways
to cope with it?

The author of this book proposed an idea of using the escalator. Do you want to know how does
it work? Let me introduce you how Munroe use an escalator to provide your phone with
electricity.

In general, when you get on an escalator and start moving upward, the escalator consumes
extra electrical energy and is transformed into kinetic energy to turn the motors that lift you.

In a simpler word, electrical energy of escalator is transformed into kinetic energy.

But with the help of some simple mechanisms, you can make the escalator give you Electrical
Energy instead. What is the mechanisms we need to set up? A simple wheel with flat paddles
which interlock awkwardly with the escalator will do! When the escalator move upwards, it drive
the paddles to spin. The kinetic energy produced by the paddles can be converted into electrical
energy and this electrical energy can be used to charge your phone when your phone is out of
battery.

You can make it work more smoothly by building a wheel with curved paddles that mesh with
the escalator. If you shape the paddles carefully, the wheel can stay in constant contact with the
escalator without sliding!

Before we start diving into another chapter of this book, let me ask you a question first:
Compare the same moon looks in your eyes and a camera, and why is Photo 2 blurred?

We sometimes think of our eyes as a pair of cameras, but human visual systems are so much
more sophisticated than any camera-it's just easy to miss the complexity because it happens
automatically. We look at a scene, get a picture in our heads, and we don't realize how much
processing, analysis, and interaction happens to produce that picture.

Cameras generally see all the areas of an image at roughly the same resolution. If you take a
picture of this page with a phone camera, a word in the center of the picture will be made up of
about the same number of pixels as a word near the edge. But your eyes don't work that way-
they see very different amounts of detail at the center of your vision compared to the edges. The
actual "pixel grid" of the eye looks very strange:

Every photo shows a certain field of view. A wide field of view shows stuff off to the sides, and a
narrow one shows only the objects directly in front of the lens.
However, camera, especially smartphone cameras have much wider fields of view which make
it more difficult to concentrate on the centrepiece

A: We have already cover a lot in our content book, But what's so special about it?

B: Well, imagine a book that takes the wildest, most outrageous questions and answers them
with scientific precision. It's like exploring the limits of reason and expanding our knowledge at
the same time.

A: Sounds intense. Is it hard to understand?

B: Not at all! The author use scientific principles, calculation and humour to explain complex
concepts in a straightforward manner, while using humor and wit to make it engaging and
accessible for everyone. So even if you're not a science whiz, you'll get it. Plus, there's humor
infused throughout, making it a total blast to read.

A: That sounds perfect! I would love to read the book at lot!

B: Trust me. Whether you are a physic lover or simply enjoy a good laugh, this book is a perfect
gift for you to appreciate the quirkier side of science. So dear students, grab your copy of the
book and prepare to have your mind blown!
