1. Your class was tasked to research on the beliefs and practices of world
religions. From your findings,
a) outline ten common features between Christian and Islam.(10mks)
Monotheism -both religion are monotheistic, believing in one God though
they have different views on Gods nature and attribute.
Abrahamic lineage - both trace their lineage back to Abraham, whom they
consider a central figure in their faith.
Final judgement- both believes in a final judgement day where individuals
will be judged for their deeds and determine their eternal life.
Heaven /Hell -both religions believes in a heaven (paradise) and a hell,
where the righteous and wicked will reside after death respectivily.
Return of Jesus -christian believe in Jesus second coming while muslim
believe in his return before the day of judgement.
Holy book- both religion have a holy book that they believe in to be the
word of God (the bible for christian and Qur'an for Muslim)
Covenant with God - both recognizes covenants between God and people
such as the ones in biblical and quranic traditions.
Messiah /prophets- both religion recognize the importance of
prophets,with Jesus being a central figure in both,,although with differing
interpretation of his nature
Prayer -prayer is a central practices in both religions, serving as a means of
communications with God.
Angels and demons- both faith believes in the existences of angels and
demons,who are spiritual beings that can influence human lives.

2. You researched on the reasons for the coming of Missionaries to Kenya in
the 19th century. From your findings,
a)state ten reasons for the coming of Missionaries(10mks)
i. To stop slave trade and rehabilitation centre.
ii. They wanted to spread Christianity and evangelism.
iii. They wanted to resettle the freed slaves in Eastern Africa.
iv. They wanted to establish legitimate trade in Eastern Africa
v. They came to discover and explore new lands.
vi. They wanted to stop the spread of Islam because they supported slave
trade.
vii. The wanted to introduce western culture and civilize the Africans.
viii. They were encouraged to come by colonial government.

vi. Material dimensions - the physical expressions of religion such as
sacred texts, places of worship, religious art and symbols.
