Dear Colleagues & Friends,

It is with immense pride and gratitude that I welcome you all to YOSICON 2025, the second annual
conference of the Young Ophthalmologists Society of India. What began as a vision to empower
young ophthalmologists has, in a short time, grown into a global platform where ideas are
exchanged, innovations are showcased, and lifelong collaborations are forged.
This year’s scientific program is our most ambitious yet. Across multiple halls and parallel sessions,
we have curated a vibrant mix of free papers, video competitions, clinical case discussions, keynote
addresses, workshops, and deferred live surgeries. From the intricacies of retinal interventions and
the expanding horizons of glaucoma care, to the innovations in cataract surgery, pediatric
ophthalmology, cornea, oculoplasty, and oncology - every subspecialty finds its space here. The Job
and Fellowship Carnival, Safe Stage, Future Leaders Academy (FLA), iROCK semi-finals, international
YO Sessions and the Fellows Face-Off embody our commitment to nurturing leadership, teamwork,
and academic excellence among young ophthalmologists.
We are especially proud of the international collaborations on display - sessions with YO leaders
from Nepal, Maldives, Turkey, Austria, TROS, and beyond, as well as the formation of the iYO General
Council. These exchanges remind us that while our challenges may be local, our solutions and
aspirations are truly global.
A highlight of YOSICON 2025 is our Teacher’s Day celebration, coinciding beautifully with our
meeting. Nearly a hundred mentors from across the nation will be honored with the Dronacharya
Award, acknowledging their selfless contributions in shaping generations of ophthalmologists. It is
our way of saying that while YOSICON is about the future, we never forget those who lit the path for
us.
None of this would have been possible without the tireless efforts of the Governing Council,
Executives, Presidential Working Groups and the whole organizing committee, the unwavering
support of our industry partners, and, above all, the passion of every YO who believes in this
movement.
As you immerse yourself in the sessions, debates, and interactions over the coming days, I
encourage you not only to gain knowledge but also to build friendships, exchange ideas, and
envision the future of Indian and global ophthalmology together.

Dear YOs,
I hope all of you are in high spirits as you prepare for the upcoming YOSICON. This is the second YOSICON and is much
grander than the first YOSICON organised by myself and Dr Karan last year. I shared with you the story of YOSIKaun? (
कौन?) to YOSICON in my Presidential address last year. As a part of the team of the first ever YO Times with Dr Tarun Arora
in 2014, I know first hand that Team YOSI has surely come a long way, and I can look back with nostalgia and pride. Today, I
can promise you that Dr. Diva Kant Misra’s inimitable leadership style backed by Dr Nilesh’s industriousness is bound to
dazzle all the attendees of 2nd global YOSICON. The zeal of Dr Prasanna Venkatesh Ramesh to elevate YOs is unparalleled.
Dr. Karan Bhatia pulled off the amazing feat of first YOSICON So his experience will be helpful to the team at each step.
Last but not the least DrAditya Sethi’s economic planning has been meticulous and methodical.
I must extend my heartfelt praise to the Senior ophthalmologists & Mentors who have helped organise the second
YOSICON. Dr. Digvijay Singh has been a pillar of support for every milestone of YOSI. Reverred President AIOS, Dr. Namrata
Sharma, Dr Rajesh Sinha & Dr. Santosh Honavar are the shining lights of Indian ophthalmology and have supported YOSI
Activities always . Their tireless dedication, and commitment to advancing our field have once again created an
unparalleled platform for learning, collaboration, and [Link] was just to name a few for the paucity of time and
space. Most of the luminaries of AIOS have always tried to put efforts for uplifting YOs whenever we needed guidance.
The agenda of 2nd YOSICON with its focus on opportunities for YOs & cutting-edge advancements in ophthalmology,
reflects our vision to elevate YOs professionally and improve patient outcomes. I am deeply grateful for the efforts of each
and every member of YOSI Executives & Presidential Working Group, who continue to inspire and unite our community.
To my younger colleagues, I want to share a few words of encouragement. You are the torchbearers of our field, stepping
into a world of rapidly evolving technology and boundless potential. Embrace this conference as an opportunity to absorb
knowledge, challenge assumptions, and forge connections with peers who share your passion. Your fresh perspectives
and fearless curiosity are vital to pushing the boundaries of what we believe is possible in eye care. Don’t shy away from
asking bold questions or exploring uncharted ideas - your contributions will shape the future of ophthalmology.
Senior faculty will tell you how they didn’t have opportunities like YOSI & so you must reap the benefits of the hard work
put in by us to organise a mammoth event like YOSICON. I have put in countless hours into Issue after issue of YO Times&
YOSI not knowing whether our hard work will some day take shape of YOSI’s achievements ! Slowly and steadily like
minded YOs came together to illuminate Pathways for YOs from every corner of the country. Exceptionally outstanding
YOs like Dr Sabyasachi Sengupta, Dr Zain Khatib, Dr Prasanna, Dr Rolika Bansal are going to be sharing their success
mantras first hand which is a unique opportunity to be inspired by their greatness.
Regrettably, I will be unable to attend this year’s gathering, a decision that weighs heavily on me given the exceptional
quality of this event. I will miss meeting my colleagues & friends especially Dr Nupur Goel, Dr Apoorva Ayachit & Dr
Sunandini who are brilliant ladies and always ensure exceptional outcomes .
Though I cannot be with you in person, I will be following the conference’s highlights with great enthusiasm and cheering
you on from afar.
I urge you to Seize this moment to learn, grow, and inspire one another. The field of ophthalmology is in “YO”ur capable
hands, and I have no doubt YOu will continue to make us proud.

Ophthalmologists, bringing together over 900 delegates and 250 faculty with strong international
participation.
YOSICON has always stood as a platform to empower, elevate, and excel the voices of young
ophthalmologists while learning from the wisdom of our mentors. This edition promises a truly
global academic experience - featuring cutting-edge debates, case-based symposia, international
collaborations, wet-labs, and skill transfer sessions. We are proud to see the conference evolve into

Dear Seniors, Colleagues, and Fellow YOs,

As we look forward to the 2nd Global YOSICON, I feel both excited and grateful to be part of this
journey. What began as a simple vision to create opportunities for young ophthalmologists has now
grown into a platform that brings us together to learn, collaborate, and inspire one another. This
year’s YOSICON promises to be bigger not just in scale, but in the strength of the ideas, opportunities,
and friendships it will nurture.
I have been fortunate to work closely with the other members of the Governing Council as we
prepare for YOSICON 2025, and each member brings something distinct to the table. Dr. Diva Kant
Misra sets the direction with clarity and bold ideas that push us to think bigger. Dr. Sonal Kalia, with
her leadership and encouragement as Immediate Past President, reminds us of the strong
foundations on which YOSI stands today. Dr. Karan Bhatia adds balance and perspective, with his
steady presence and practical insights guiding the team forward. Dr. Nilesh Kumar has been steady
in coordinating the nuts and bolts that hold our work together. Dr. Aditya Sethi manages the
financial side with precision, making sure our plans are practical and our resources are put to the
best use. Alongside them, the tireless efforts of the Presidential Working Group and YOSI Executive
Members have been invaluable in shaping every detail of this conference. As for myself, I carry the
excitement of building opportunities for YOs - an enthusiasm that has only grown stronger with each
step of my YOSI journey.
On a personal note, YOSI has been a part of my growth for many years now. I still remember taking
part in YOSI competitions as a participant, then gradually finding my place in the Innovation Wing
and the Journal Club, and eventually taking on the responsibility of heading and organising several
projects, especially through the Scientific Committee. Each of these experiences shaped me, taught
me invaluable lessons, and kept me deeply connected to this society.
Being part of the team organising YOSICON 2025 feels like a natural continuation of that journey. It is
both nostalgic and inspiring to see how far we have come, and how much further we can go together.
To all my fellow YOs: this conference is your platform. Make the most of the sessions, the workshops,
and the conversations. Come with questions, ideas, and an open mind. The experiences and
connections you create here will last far beyond the three days of the event.
Here’s to a YOSICON that brings us together, strengthens our community, and sets the stage for the
future of ophthalmology. Let’s make YOSICON 2025 not just another meeting, but a memory we’ll all
