What’s New?
Version 9.1.0
Tools for Managing Assembly States
When working with a model that includes multiple assembly states, it is possible to make
changes that adversely affect the inactive assembly states. There are two new tools available for
helping you to understand and manage the assembly states in your model:
Components and joints included in the active assembly state have a special icon
decoration that indicates when they are also included in an inactive assembly state. For
example, a shared joint may have this icon: .
There is a notification that pops up when you make a change that affects an inactive
assembly state. (Experienced users can disable this notification in the application
Options, on the Modeling tab.)
These tools help you to avoid making inadvertent changes to an inactive assembly state.
Improved Add Object UI and Workflows
The user interface for Add Joint, Add Measurement, and Add Dimension has been updated to be
consistent with the corresponding properties views. The workflows for these functions have also
been improved so that the fewer mouse clicks are required.
New Advisor Tests for Fastener Joints
Clearance around fasteners and other similar conditions (e.g., shaft in hole) is often an important
consideration. There are now informational messages for joints with a clearance condition that is
ignored and for non-centered joints where there is a potential interference.

Release Notes v9.1.0
More convenient access to tutorial videos
The application now includes a built-in video player and the tutorial videos are hosted from a
video streaming service that does not require any login credentials. This makes accessing and
viewing the tutorial videos much more convenient.
Improved Integration with the SOLIDWORKS User Interface
CETOL 6 for SOLIDWORKS has been updated to take advantage of the recent improvements
in the SOLIDWORKS user interface, including:
Support for multiple icon sizes in the CommandManager and toolbars
Support for multiple icon sizes in the FeatureManager
Menu access to all commands
Support for keyboard shortcuts for all commands
Version 9.0.1
Language Support
In addition to English, the following languages are supported:
Japanese
Chinese (Simplified)
The installer, application, and help system are available in the supported languages.
Usability Improvements
This version of the application includes the following improvements:
Maintain feature focus during constraint activities – When applying constraints to a
feature, the selection focus on the feature is maintained so that its properties are shown in
the properties view, resulting in a more efficient workflow with fewer mouse clicks.
Improved visualization performance (SOLIDWORKS) – The performance of the
visualization tools (e.g., Show Locations, Visualize Sensitivities, etc.) is greatly improved
(especially for large models) and is no longer dependent on the ‘Hide/show component’
view transitions option in SOLIDWORKS.
Updated License Manager
The Sigmetrix License Manager has been updated to FlexNet Publisher Licensing Toolkit
11.14.0 in order to address a security vulnerability in earlier releases FlexNet Publisher (Click
here for more information). The updated license manager is required for CETOL 6 v9.0.1 (and

later versions). The new license manager supports earlier releases of CETOL 6 and works with
existing license files.
Note with this release, the Sigmetrix License Manager log file is written to
C:\ProgramData\Sigmetrix\SigmetrixLicenseManager\sigmetrix_lm_log.txt.
Version 9.0.0
New Interactive Help
The software documentation has been changed from a single PDF file to fully interactive help
system that is tied directly into the software, allowing the user to more easily find answers to
their questions. Some of the key features of this help system include:
New Video Tutorials – A set of video tutorials are now available to explain and
demonstrate various concepts throughout the software. These videos can be accessed
from the help menu or from various cross-referenced links throughout the help content.
The videos are hosted on the Sigmetrix Support Center and require a customer login to
view.
New Context Sensitive Help – The relevant help content can be accessed directly from the
software during operation. Each dialog, property panel and advisor message has a link to
the relevant section of help.
Enhanced Advisor System – Additional new advisor messages have been added to
CETOL. All advisor message now have related help content that explains what the
message means, why it is an issue and what can be done to resolve it. Filtering has been
added to show only the messages of interest at any given time.

Redesigned User Interface – CETOL 6σ for Creo
The CETOL 6σ for Creo Modeler user interface has been completely redesigned. The
information and actions that are presented to the user are organized to help guide the user to a
successful completion in the most efficient manner.
New Ribbon Interface – The main menu bar has been replaced by a ribbon interface
similar to many modern applications.
Focused Modeling Modes – The ribbon interface is divided into 3 modes (Assemble,
Dimension, and Analyze). The information and actions that are accessible are filtered
based on the current modeling mode. For example, in Assemble mode only information

and actions related to assembly modeling are shown. The information and actions for
doing part modeling are hidden or shown in a summary form.
New View Results Dialog – Measurement results have been moved from the measurement
properties view to a new “View Results” dialog. This allows the user to view and edit
properties of contributing dimensions and tolerances without having to navigate away
from the results view.
Improved Information Layout – The Properties views have been reorganized for better
usability and to minimize toggling between tabs.

New Assembly States instead of Configurations
Configurations have been replaced by assembly states to
allow more control and flexibility for defining unique
states of the assembly for analysis. Assembly states also
allow for better-organized and more efficient models with
fewer joints and faster performance. Each component and
joint within the assembly can be independently included
or excluded from each assembly state. The assembly states
and measurements are shown in a separate section of the
model tree rather than within the main model tree. Objects
that are within the active object are shown in the model
tree with a white background. Objects not included in the
active state are shown with gray icons and text.
New Operating System Certifications
CETOL 6σ now supports Windows 10 for the CAD systems and versions that officially support
Windows 10.
New CAD System Certifications

Known Issues in Current Release
Issues Common to all CETOL 6σ Products
The following are issues known to be present in the latest build of CETOL 6σ:
There is an inherent conflict when a dimension or geometric tolerance has a variation rule
set to 'Distribution Drives Tolerance' if the dimension or geometric tolerance is linked to
a corresponding CAD annotation. You should always set the variation rule to 'Tolerance
Drives Distribution' before importing feature annotations or linking a CETOL dimension
or geometric tolerance to the corresponding CAD annotation.

Release Notes v9.1.0
CETOL 6σ for SOLIDWORKS Issues
The following are issues known to be present in the latest build of CETOL 6σ v9.0 for
SOLIDWORKS:
The CETOL Add-in must be disabled from the Add-ins menu before uninstalling to
completely uninstall the ribbon.
If the Instant3D option on, you cannot select certain dimensions from the CAD model.
You should turn this option off before attempting to link a CETOL dimension to a CAD
dimension.
When working with a SOLIDWORKS assembly, the annotations cannot be highlighted
from the CETOL user interface. It is generally recommended that you work in
SOLIDWORKS part mode when using the ‘Import Feature Annotations’ function.
‘Select Other’ causes SOLIDWORKS to lock up when running the CETOL add-in. When
working with the CETOL 6σ for SOLIDWORKS, you should disable the two options
(displayed on the ‘Tools > Customize’ page) for showing the context toolbar in
SOLIDWORKS.
SOLIDWORKS may crash when the SOLIDWORKS Measure tool is open and certain
CETOL operations are performed. You should close the measure tool when working with
CETOL 6σ for SOLIDWORKS.
When working with CETOL 6σ for SOLIDWORKS, you should avoid working in an
exploded state of the assembly. This limitation is due to an API bug that causes serious
problems when selecting in an exploded state. This bug that has been reported to
SolidWorks Support. To avoid this problem, CETOL automatically unexplodes the model
during selection (e.g., Add Joint) and then returns the model to the exploded state after
the selection is complete.
