Directions:
1. Print, cut, and laminate the items on pages 3 – 6.
Tip: To stay organized, print, cut and laminate the cover pieces on
page 7. Then clip each set of items together and put them all in one
bag or small box for easy storage!
*You could optionally use the blank table at the end of the packet for
storage – attach Velcro to each space and place noun pictures into
each (pages 21 – 25 are optional to print).
2. Print and laminate the boards you wish to use. The noun pieces are
organized for the worksheets on pages 8 – 13. Each worksheet has
two correlating sets of 10 nouns to sort. There are four items that fit
into each category presented.
For example: Sort By Class Worksheet 1
Classes to sort: Animals, Clothing, Vehicles, Shapes, Food
Pictures Included in 1st Set: Shoes, Pants, Car, Bus, Cat, Turtle, Cookies,
Banana, Triangle, Heart
Pictures included in 2nd Set: Train, Plane, Hat, Scarf, Bear, Zebra, Strawberry,
Soup, Circle, Star
*You can work on sorting 10 items at a time, and then switch out the stimuli to
work on sorting 10 different items into the same categories!
3. The worksheets on pages 14 – 20 only contain a field of 2 to sort
into. You can go back to this task and practice sorting into a field of 2 if
your student is having difficulty with sorting into a field of 5!
4. You can also use the worksheets on pages 14 – 20 to identify more
items that fit into each category. For example, there are many items
that are rectangle shape, and many that are round! See if your student
can find them all when presented with a larger field!
