After watching the documentaries "Marawi Siege 2017" by GMA News and “Di Ka Pasisiil” by ABS-CBN, I
gained a deeper understanding of how devastating and painful the Marawi conflict truly was. These
documentaries showed not just the destruction of a city but also the pain and struggles of the people who
lived there. Seeing the ruins of homes, schools, and mosques made me realize how war can instantly
change the lives of thousands of families. What was once a place full of life and culture turned into a
battlefield filled with fear and loss.

What really moved me was the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought to regain peace in
Marawi. Many of them risked and even lost their lives to protect the civilians and our country. The
documentaries also showed the courage of journalists who continued to cover the events despite being in
danger themselves. They became the eyes and ears of the Filipino people, helping us understand the
reality of war beyond what we usually see on the news. Their reports gave voice to those who could not
speak and showed the human side of the tragedy.

The stories of the civilians, especially the Maranao people, were equally powerful. They lost their homes,
their businesses, and even loved ones, yet many of them remained strong and hopeful. The
documentaries showed how they helped one another, prayed together, and dreamed of rebuilding their
city. This reminded me that true strength is not only shown in fighting but also in rising again after falling.
The resilience and faith of the people of Marawi are truly inspiring.

Watching these films made me appreciate the peace and safety we enjoy every day. It reminded me that
conflict and violence bring nothing but pain, and that unity, understanding, and respect for one another
are the keys to a peaceful nation. The Marawi siege should never be forgotten because it teaches us
valuable lessons about courage, sacrifice, and the importance of protecting our communities from hatred
and division.

In the end, both documentaries left a strong message: no matter how dark times may become, the
Filipino spirit will never give up. The people of Marawi, the soldiers who fought, and the journalists who
told their stories all proved that even in the midst of war, hope and love for the country will always shine
through.
