spreadsheets?
• Spreadsheets are digital tables used to organize, calculate, and check data.

• Spreadsheets consist of rows and columns, and each box are called a cell,
and cells can store texts, numbers and formulas.

• Spreadsheets are normally uses for calculations, data organisation, analysis


and record keeping.

• There are a lot of spreadsheet programs, but the popular ones are Microsoft
Excel, Google sheets, Apple numbers, LibreOffice calc.

• The use of spreadsheets varies but the main uses are to track monthly
expenses, calculate totals automatically and create graphs from your data.
Why organisations use
spreadsheets
• Organisations use spreadsheets to keep track of
employee records, customer lists, inventory and stock
levels while it could also be uses to perform calculations
automatically as spreadsheets can do quick calculations
using formulas which reduces the chance of errors and
saves time this is mostly uses in budget and financial
forecasts, payroll calculations and sales total.
• Organisations use spreadsheets to save time and money,
and it is flexible and can be easily updated and reused for
different purposes without starting from scratch

and team projects on it also do simple data analysis and budgeting. Many
people would choose Google sheets as you can do real-time collaborations
and is cloud based.

• Apple Numbers is used for personal budgeting and tracking Numbers is ideal
for individuals or small teams managing personal finances, budgets.

spreadsheets
• An advanced feature on spreadsheets is formulas and

restriction as you can set a validation rule to make sure the
user enters the correct valid data.
• An advanced feature of spreadsheets would be conditional
data entry as it allows you to create dynamic dropdown list.

you to format cells based on the data it has.
More advantages

• Another advantage would be scripting as it allows


the automations of tasks such as sending emails
and retrieving data from API and creating custom
menu options.
• Data analysis tools such as Excel solver is a
powerful tool for optimization.
Disadvantages of
spreadsheets
• A disadvantage of spreadsheets is the performance
issues as spreadsheets can struggle with large amounts
of data as the user starts to deal with tens of thousands
or millions the performance of a spreadsheets begins to
deteriorate as the operations begins to slow down and
even calculations become slow.
• Another disadvantage is formula errors as it can be
complex and difficult to remove, and incorrect formulas
means that the cells will be wrong and using the wrong
syntax can lead to faulty calculations or misinterpreted
data.
More disadvantages

• Collaboration challenges as spreadsheets are not


suited for large teams working on complex tasks
as this can lead to the spreadsheets being slow
and giving wrong calculations.
