Physics Assignment: Light Problems

The document contains a physics home assignment for 10th-grade students focusing on the concepts of light, specifically reflection and refraction. It includes three problems involving the calculation of focal lengths, image positions, and magnifications related to lenses and mirrors. Students are instructed to apply the sign conventions for lenses and mirrors in their solutions.

LESSON - LIGHT: REFLECTION AND REFRACTION
SOLVE THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS

1.A concave lens is placed in contact with a convex lens of focal length 25cm. The
combination produces a real image at a distance of 80cm, when an object is at a distance of
40cm. What is the focal length of concave lens?

2.A convex lens of focal length 20cm produces a real image of an object, when it is 30cm
away. Find position and magnification of image.

[Link] object of size of 7.0cm is placed 27cm in front of concave mirror of focal length 18cm.
At what distance from the mirror, should a screen be placed, so that a sharp focussed image
can be obtained? Find the size and the nature of the image.

Note:

( u is always negative for concave lens,

f for concave mirror is negative)
