CHAPTER-I
INTRODUCTION
This report provides details gathered from online consultations and website evaluations
concerning the digital marketplace [Link]. The report highlights the diverse services
provided by the platform, focusing on its performance, durability, reliability, payment
handling, and other functional elements. This document has been created to partially meet
the criteria for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. It acts as a
foundation for internal assessment and viva examination as mandated by the course.
E-commerce, or electronic commerce, pertains to the purchasing and selling of products
and services online. Its primary aim is to enable consumers to purchase and process
payments online, thus conserving time and minimizing geographical constraints for
customers and companies alike. In Nepal, the online retail sector has been quickly rising in
prominence. Historically, Nepalese shoppers have been quite familiar with brick-and-
mortar stores, even though online platforms provide clear pricing and comprehensive
product details. Nonetheless, the attitude is slowly changing. The ease of home delivery,
the variety of products available, and intuitive interfaces are motivating more Nepalese
individuals to participate in online shopping.
This report includes review of [Link] website precisely so that a general idea can be
set out about how to use an e-commerce site and what it is about. [Link]
([Link]) is Nepal’s first e-commerce company that caters to Nepalese Diaspora
residing in various parts of the world enabling the Diaspora to buy various products and
services for their friends and families back here in Nepal.
The main goal of this research is to acquire a thorough insight into the services, operations,
and overall performance of the [Link] e-commerce platform. To accomplish this, the
research concentrates on these particular goals:
• To emphasize and examine the different services offered by the [Link] e-
commerce platform, including its function as an online marketplace that enables users
to engage in buying and selling activities.
• To recognize and grasp the advantages of online marketplaces, especially how
platforms such as [Link] enhance convenience, transparency, time efficiency,
and accessibility for both purchasers and vendors.
• To assess the SWOT analysis of [Link] by pinpointing its strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and threats to grasp its competitive stance and possible improvement
areas.
This research is primarily based on a desk study research design, commonly known as the
literature review method. Under this approach, data and information were gathered mainly
from secondary sources such as articles, journals, websites, and other published materials.
Since the study focuses on analysing an existing e-commerce platform, secondary data
played a crucial role in understanding [Link]'s structure, operations, and services.
Although the study relied heavily on secondary sources, the report would not have been
complete without the systematic collection of relevant and reliable data. To ensure accuracy
and factual clarity, various tools such as mobile phones, social media , and computers were
used during the consultation with staffs and customer service department especially while
observing the platform’s features and user interface.
• The reliability of the study is contingent on the precision of details given by the
respondent and the data sourced from various websites regarding [Link]
• Limited information was found regarding [Link] on different search engine
platforms.
• Due to confidentiality concerns and the politics of [Link]. the study may not
satisfy the need to understand the specifics of the assigned department and its dealings.

known Thamel area, a popular tourist hub in Kathmandu. This gives it a local
cultural connection and brand familiarity, especially with Nepali expatriates and
those seeking authentic Nepali products.

from clothing, handicrafts, gifts, electronics, and Nepali cultural items. This allows

regulations. This could deter potential customers from regions outside of Nepal.

for its product offerings, which could lead to inventory management issues,
stockouts, or delays in fulfilling customer orders, especially during high-demand
periods
9
Opportunities:

abroad. By adding electronics, home decor, and other global products, [Link]

larger platforms dominate the Nepali e-commerce space. These competitors may
have more resources, wider product ranges, and established customer bases,
presenting a threat to [Link]’s growth and market share.

1) Daraz Nepal: Daraz is [Link]’s strongest competitor, offering a fully structured e-
commerce experience with secure payments, nationwide delivery, return policies, and
strong seller verification. Unlike [Link]’s classified model, Daraz focuses on selling
10
new products through multiple vendors, supported by heavy marketing, large product
variety, and frequent sales campaigns. Its modern interface and integrated logistics systems
offering affordable products across categories like fashion, electronics, and household
goods. While smaller than Daraz, it offers a more organized buying experience than
second-hand goods and peer-to-peer buying, limiting its reach among bargain hunters

the ability to check seller profiles, mutual connections, and location-based listings, which
builds trust and convenience. Many users are shifting to Facebook Marketplace for quick
