CHAPTER-I
INTRODUCTION

Introduction of the project work

This report provides details gathered from online consultations and website evaluations
concerning the digital marketplace [Link]. The report highlights the diverse services
provided by the platform, focusing on its performance, durability, reliability, payment
handling, and other functional elements. This document has been created to partially meet
the criteria for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. It acts as a
foundation for internal assessment and viva examination as mandated by the course.
E-commerce, or electronic commerce, pertains to the purchasing and selling of products
and services online. Its primary aim is to enable consumers to purchase and process
payments online, thus conserving time and minimizing geographical constraints for
customers and companies alike. In Nepal, the online retail sector has been quickly rising in
prominence. Historically, Nepalese shoppers have been quite familiar with brick-and-
mortar stores, even though online platforms provide clear pricing and comprehensive
product details. Nonetheless, the attitude is slowly changing. The ease of home delivery,
the variety of products available, and intuitive interfaces are motivating more Nepalese
individuals to participate in online shopping.
This report includes review of [Link] website precisely so that a general idea can be
set out about how to use an e-commerce site and what it is about. [Link]
([Link]) is Nepal’s first e-commerce company that caters to Nepalese Diaspora
residing in various parts of the world enabling the Diaspora to buy various products and
services for their friends and families back here in Nepal.

Purpose and Significance of the Study

This initiative aims to aid learners by improving their comprehension of website

functionalities and digital platforms. It can act as a resource and support for younger
students for educational use. Additionally, this report could be valuable for readers
interested in e-commerce, especially regarding how [Link] operates.
The Significance of the study encompasses:
• Offering comprehensive insights into the products and services available at
[Link], as well as its organizational framework and business model.

• Providing advice on the website's operational processes, assisting users in grasping

how the platform operates in practical situations.
• Gaining insight into the SWOT analysis [Link], allowing readers to grasp
its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

Objectives of the Study

The main goal of this research is to acquire a thorough insight into the services, operations,
and overall performance of the [Link] e-commerce platform. To accomplish this, the
research concentrates on these particular goals:
• To emphasize and examine the different services offered by the [Link] e-
commerce platform, including its function as an online marketplace that enables users
to engage in buying and selling activities.
• To recognize and grasp the advantages of online marketplaces, especially how
platforms such as [Link] enhance convenience, transparency, time efficiency,
and accessibility for both purchasers and vendors.
• To assess the SWOT analysis of [Link] by pinpointing its strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, and threats to grasp its competitive stance and possible improvement
areas.

Methodology of the Study

This research is primarily based on a desk study research design, commonly known as the
literature review method. Under this approach, data and information were gathered mainly
from secondary sources such as articles, journals, websites, and other published materials.
Since the study focuses on analysing an existing e-commerce platform, secondary data
played a crucial role in understanding [Link]'s structure, operations, and services.

Although the study relied heavily on secondary sources, the report would not have been
complete without the systematic collection of relevant and reliable data. To ensure accuracy
and factual clarity, various tools such as mobile phones, social media , and computers were
used during the consultation with staffs and customer service department especially while
observing the platform’s features and user interface.

The secondary sources used for the study include:

• Information available on the official website of [Link]
3

• Brochures and promotional materials published by [Link]

• Informal interviews and feedback from existing users of [Link]
• Additional online articles, user reviews, and e-commerce-related resources that helped
strengthen the understanding of the platform.

Limitations of the Study

• The reliability of the study is contingent on the precision of details given by the
respondent and the data sourced from various websites regarding [Link]
• Limited information was found regarding [Link] on different search engine
platforms.
• Due to confidentiality concerns and the politics of [Link]. the study may not
satisfy the need to understand the specifics of the assigned department and its dealings.

CHAPTER III
MARKET ANALYSIS

SWOT Analysis

A SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) provides a

comprehensive view of [Link]'s internal and external factors. This analysis helps to
identify areas where the platform can leverage its advantages and areas where it can improve
or face challenges.

Strengths:
 Strong Brand Recognition in Nepal: [Link] is associated with the well-
known Thamel area, a popular tourist hub in Kathmandu. This gives it a local
cultural connection and brand familiarity, especially with Nepali expatriates and
those seeking authentic Nepali products.
 Wide Range of Products: [Link] offers a diverse variety of products ranging
from clothing, handicrafts, gifts, electronics, and Nepali cultural items. This allows
them to cater to multiple segments of the market, including both domestic and
international customers.
 User-Friendly E-commerce Platform: The website is likely designed to be
intuitive, with easy navigation and a streamlined shopping process. This improves
customer experience and encourages repeat business.
 Global Payment Methods: [Link] offers a range of local payment methods
such as Credit/Debit card,Paypal and Cash on Delivery (COD). This fscilitates
accessibility to Nepalese customers who may not have access to local payment
options abroad.

Weaknesses:
 Shipping Infrastruture: [Link] might face challenges with international
shipping in terms of costs, long delivery times, and complicated customs
regulations. This could deter potential customers from regions outside of Nepal.
 Reliance on Third-Party Suppliers: [Link] may rely on third-party suppliers
for its product offerings, which could lead to inventory management issues,
stockouts, or delays in fulfilling customer orders, especially during high-demand
periods
9

 Competitive Market: The Nepali e-commerce market is crowded with competitors

like Daraz Nepal, SastoDeal, and OkDam. This means [Link] must work
harder to differentiate itself and maintain its market share

Opportunities:
 Expansion of Product Ranges: There is an opportunity to broaden the product
offerings to include international goods that cater to Nepali expatriates living
abroad. By adding electronics, home decor, and other global products, [Link]
could expand its appeal.
 Partnerships with Local Artisans: [Link] can collaborate with local Nepali
artisans and craftsmen to sell exclusive handcrafted products or limited-edition
items that emphasize Nepali heritage. This can strengthen the platform's cultural
identity and differentiate it from competitors.
 Expansion of Payment Systems: By incorporating global payment options like
Stripe, Apple Pay, or cryptocurrency, [Link] can expand its reach to global
customers and attract international buyers who wish to purchase Nepali products.

Threats :
 Logistics and Delivery Issues: Delivery delays, especially in rural or remote areas,
and high shipping costs for international deliveries can lead to customer
dissatisfaction. [Link] may also face logistical challenges due to Nepal’s
infrastructure limitations.
 Cybersecurity Risks: With the rise of online shopping comes the increased threat
of cyberattacks, fraud, and data breaches. If [Link] does not continuously
enhance its security protocols, there is a risk of customer trust being undermined.
 Intense Competition: As mentioned earlier, Daraz Nepal, SastoDeal, and other
larger platforms dominate the Nepali e-commerce space. These competitors may
have more resources, wider product ranges, and established customer bases,
presenting a threat to [Link]’s growth and market share.

Competitor Analysis
1) Daraz Nepal: Daraz is [Link]’s strongest competitor, offering a fully structured e-

commerce experience with secure payments, nationwide delivery, return policies, and

strong seller verification. Unlike [Link]’s classified model, Daraz focuses on selling
10

new products through multiple vendors, supported by heavy marketing, large product

variety, and frequent sales campaigns. Its modern interface and integrated logistics systems

attract customers who prefer convenience, trust, and guaranteed delivery.

2) SastoDeal: SastoDeal competes by positioning itself as a budget-friendly marketplace

offering affordable products across categories like fashion, electronics, and household

goods. While smaller than Daraz, it offers a more organized buying experience than

[Link], especially for new items. However, it lacks [Link]’s strength in

second-hand goods and peer-to-peer buying, limiting its reach among bargain hunters

looking for used products.

3) Facebook Marketplace: Facebook Marketplace is a growing competitor because it allows

easy buying and selling of used goods directly within the Facebook app. Its advantage is

the ability to check seller profiles, mutual connections, and location-based listings, which

builds trust and convenience. Many users are shifting to Facebook Marketplace for quick

local deals, reducing [Link]’s dominance in casual second-hand transactions.

11

CHAPTER IV
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

[Link] plays a vital role in Nepal's e-commerce sector, particularly in the niche
market of emotional gifting. The platform primarily caters to the Nepali diaspora, offering
them a convenient and reliable way to send gifts, cakes, flowers, and other items to friends
and family in Nepal. One of the key findings is the company’s ability to maintain timely
deliveries and personalized services, which has contributed to high customer satisfaction
and loyalty. Customers appreciate the cultural relevance of gift options and the ease of
navigating the website from abroad. [Link] has built strong partnerships with local
vendors and delivery services, ensuring efficient logistics across major cities in Nepal.
However, challenges remain in scaling operations to rural areas and keeping pace with
global e-commerce trends, such as mobile optimization and AI-driven personalization. The
report shows that growing opportunity for [Link] to leverage social media and digital
marketing to expand its customer base. Despite increasing competition in the e-commerce
space, [Link] maintains a strong brand reputation and emotional value among its
users, making it a key player in cross- border gifting services in Nepal [Link] has
successfully positioned itself as a leading e-commerce platform in Nepal, specializing in
cross-border gifting services that connect the Nepali diaspora with their loved ones back
home. Through its culturally tailored product offerings, efficient delivery network, and
commitment to customer satisfaction, the platform addresses a unique emotional and
logistical need in the market. While it has built a strong foundation and brand reputation,
there is significant potential for further growth through technological innovation, enhanced
user experience, and targeted digital marketing strategies. As Nepal’s e-commerce
landscape continues to evolve, [Link] is well-placed to maintain its competitive
advantage and expand its reach, provided it continues to adapt to changing consumer
expectations and market dynamics. The company’s continued success will depend on its
ability to innovate while staying true to its core mission of delivering heartfelt connections
across borders.

Recommendations:
o Optimize the Website for Mobile: For users who prefer browsing via mobile but
are not app users, [Link] should ensure its website is fully optimized for
mobile with fast loading times, intuitive navigation, and easy checkout processes.
12

o Adopt Advanced Security Protocols: As an e-commerce platform,

[Link] must ensure its customers' data is secure. Implementing SSL
encryption, multi-factor authentication (MFA) for users for handling
credit card transactions can enhance security and build trust.

o Customer Loyalty Programs: Introduce a loyalty program offering

discounts or rewards for repeat customers. This can increase customer
retention and encourage more frequent purchases.

o Engage with Customers on Social Media: Regularly engage with

customers through social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram,
and Twitter. Respond to their questions and concerns promptly, and use
these platforms to showcase new products, promotions, and special offers.
