Creative Presentation - RISE Reflection

Based on my experience in this Creative Presentation class, I can assert that it met, and in
certain cases exceeded my expectations. I came into this class thinking it was going to be
an easy check list of how to do a presentation. Rather, I was working on more meaningful
and innovative things, to learn how to form your thoughts for a purpose, how to write a
piece of work for different audiences, and how to speak with a voice that sounded real and
meaningful. This class wasn't only about the presentation to others; it was more about how
you think about communication as a craft.

Throughout the month, my approach evolved significantly. At first, I prioritized correctness

and clarity. As the course progressed, I learned that my attitude, my speed, and everything
about me was just as important as what I was presenting. What was most successful was
adopting my genuine voice, speaking with conviction, purpose, and a sense of creative
self-expression. What didn't work: Too much polishing, stiff delivery. The more I let myself
be real, the better my communication was.

I want to revisit some things like visual storytelling to create a balance between design and
message. I also wish to learn how to read my audience more, to quickly learn what a group
needs, and tailor my approach accordingly. The course was a good base to start but
practicing and always staying teachable is the only way to master it.

If I had the chance to do it again, I would practice a lot more. I overworked myself creating
content and not leaving enough time to practice delivery. If I had more time to practice, I
would have been better with my speed and filler words, but I am still proud of how
responsible an effort I put in every assignment. I met the requirements of the course with
intention, and I can see how I’ve grown in my communication.

The talents that I have learned here will be in every class and in my future goals. When I am
presenting my research or just sharing an idea with a friend, I need to communicate with
them clearly and creatively. As someone building a multi‑disciplinary creative path, these
skills strengthen my ability to share ideas, lead projects, and bring visions to life. This class
helped me learn a lesson that I will always use; communication is not just talking but
relating to the person you are talking to. My biggest takeaway is that presentation is both an
art and a discipline and when creativity and clarity work together, communication
becomes a powerful weapon, and something I will continue to build as I move forward.
