Task 2

Discussion: "Should mobile phones be banned at schools?"

Give your opinion and support it with examples. (180–200 words)

Ban:
 Prevent distractions during lessons => mobile phones distract
students attention with notifications, messages, calls => divide
their concentration => affect their understanding of lessons
 Avoid cyber bullying => no one can bully pupils on the net at
school => they are away from cyber threats while studying at
school without phones
 discourage plagiarism and cheating => without smartphones,
students cannot copy answers during tests and exams from
other students or from the internet

Don’t ban:
 limit their right => smartphones are their personal possessions
=> have right to decide whether to take to school or not =>
use them during lessons
 disconnect students from parents => parents may phone to
their children while being at school => ask their condition, any
other matters
