✓ EVERYDAY LIFE AS NARRATIVE (Easy Explanation)
⬛
Jerome Bruner is saying that life is not just about collecting events or memories
like a camera. Instead, we turn our experiences into stories— Ibig sabihin, we
interpret what happens, connect the dots, and give meaning sa mga nangyari. For
example nadapa, tapos nasagutan sa tuhod. Yung story na sinasabi mo sa sarili mo is,
“Nadapa ako, mag-iingat na ako next time.” Yung story na yun helps you understand
yourself better and also helps you grow. Basically, our life stories shape how we see
ourselves and help us learn from what we experience.
Every day, nakakaranas tayo ng iba't ibang bagay tulad ng realizations, and most of the
time, sa learning ng students araw-araw, may natututunan tayo. As time goes by,
nakakakilala tayo ng new people, and bawat isa ay may iba't ibang personalities.
Habang tumatagal, napapansin natin na most things, including the people in our lives,
are temporary.
You connect these events and turn them into a “story” sa utak mo.
Life is not just happening.
Life is the story you create from those things you experience.
For a simple example:
If you practiced basketball every day and got better, hindi lang yung mga practice ang
naaalala mo. Nag-iisip ka,
> “Nag-improve ako kasi nagsikap ako.”
You turned those moments into a *story about your effort and growth*.
Kaya, ibig sabihin nito:
So in short:
We make sense of our life by telling stories about ourselves.
Those stories become our identity.
Our everyday actions and memories form the story of who we are. it means that the way
we talk about our experiences shapes our identity. Our memories, daily actions,
challenges, and achievements all become parts of a personal story that explains who we
are today.
These stories of life help us understand our past, give meaning to our present, and guide
the kind of person we want to become so basically from that experience natuto tayo for
instance nagkamali ka and hind muna mababalikan ung pagkakamali na yun so nagkaron
ng realization na this time onwards itatama mo pagmamali mo na as much as possible
hindi maulit. with that being said our identity is not just what happened to us, but how we
choose to tell the story of what happened in a positive ba to motivate yourself para hindi
malugmok sa problema or in negative way naman nasa tao na yun every person has a
different coping mechanism to cope with those events of their struggles or down
moments. Through this process, we understand how we grow. Each person becomes
both the author and the main character of their own story — constantly interpreting,
reshaping, and rewriting it as time goes by. It’s a continuous journey of self-discovery.
✓ CONNECTION TO KAIZEN
⬛
Kaizen means continuous improvement — small steps every day.
Your story becomes a record of your small daily progress.
Narrative = the story of improvement as I’ve said earlier ito yung kwento ng
Kaizen = the practice of improvement yung palagi mong ginagawa yung pagpapabuti.
better, mas efficient, at mas productive sa trabaho or sa pag-aaral, its process, o kahit
sa personal na buhay. So, yung Kaizen, yun yung habit o mindset na tuloy-tuloy kang
nag-iimprove day by day.
✓ SIMPLE STORY YOU CAN USE (For report or class)
⬛
Yung story ni Maria is like a perfect example ng Kaizen, na ibig sabihin ay yung small,
confidence niya. At the end, nakasali na siya sa isang club, which is a big achievement.
So, yung message dito is, kahit simple at maliit lang yung ginagawa mo araw-araw,
Second Slides Explanation
What Does “Life as Narrative” Mean and its Connection to Everyday Life?
• Life is not just about what happens to us. It’s also about how we see and
understand those things. For example, two people might see the same event, like
losing a game. One might think, “I’m so bad at this,” and feel sad. The other might
think, “It’s okay, I can try again it’s just a game,” and feel motivated. So, even
though the same thing happened, they end up with different stories and feelings
because of their different perspectives.
• Humans naturally try to make sense ng mga nangyayari sa buhay natin. Kapag
Like, kapag na
By that, nagiging meaningful yung
experiences natin kasi nakikita natin sila as part ng isang story of growth and
learning.
maramdaman natin is takot.

Title: The Alchemist
Artist: Pieter Bruegel the Elder (or follower)
• This painting shows a busy and messy room where people are working with
bottles, tools, and books. The main man, an alchemist, is trying to turn ordinary
metals into gold — something impossible to do. Even though mukhang active yung
scene, it’s actually a warning.
goal.
• The moral lesson is:
buhay. Real wisdom at success comes from honest and meaningful work — hindi
sa shortcuts

C
“Life as narrative” means we live, remember, and express our lives as stories. In everyday
life naman, we tell these stories through words and actions. In visual arts, we tell them
through images and symbols that speak to the human experience.
