SYLLABUS
COURSE DESCRIPTION: A detailed evaluation of the law on testate and intestate succession,
including a study on Wills, Institution and Substitution of heirs, Computation of legitimes of
compulsory heirs in testate and intestate succession, Disinheritance, Preterition, Reserva Troncal and
partition and distribution of the estate of a deceased person and the substantive procedure on the
settlement and administration of the estate of deceased persons under Book III of the New Civil Code.
Course Objectives:
At the end of the course, the student will understand the basic principles of succession; identify rights
and obligations among heirs, and the basic principles in succession. They will also be able to learn
how to compute and allocate portions left in inheritance in both testate and intestate succession.
Lastly, they should be able to learn how to make wills.
