The graph below shows the different modes of transport used to travel to and from
work in one European city in 1960, 1980 and 2000.
You should write at least 150 words.

The given bar graph shows data on the type of transportation citizens in an unknown city
in Europe used to go to work and to return from the work in three different years.
Overall, while there was a significant growth in popularity of private vehicles which
became the most common means of transport at the end of this period, the opposite was
true for the number of people using buses which dropped drastically.
Looking at the data for automobiles and buses, at the beginning of the period in question,
only about 7% of commuters chose cars for their commute which was the lowest statistic
compared to about a staggering 37% for buses. Over the next 4 decades, the proportion of
car users rocketed, reaching a peak of over 35% in the year 2000. In contrast, the
equivalent figure for buses dipped to just roughly 15%.
With regard to the two remaining modes of transport, tube was chosen by approximately
27% of people to travel to and back from work which was about 10% higher than that of
train. The figure for train passengers peaked at just under 27% in 1980 prior to slipping
back to 22% in the year 2000. Nonetheless, there was a rebound to 25% in 2000 after a
decrease to about 22% in 1980 in the percentage of people choosing tube.
