Administrator to ensure the efficiency, security, and scalability of our data
systems that power publishing workflows, inventory management, order
processing, and customer engagement.
Role Summary: The SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for
designing, implementing, and maintaining robust SQL-based database systems.
The role requires ensuring data integrity, optimizing performance, supporting
integrations with other business systems, and enabling data-driven insights for
the organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Database Management
Design, implement, and maintain SQL databases to support core
publishing and distribution operations.
Monitor and optimize database performance, queries, and indexing.
2. Data Integrity & Security
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and security of stored data.
Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
Enforce data governance and compliance standards.
3. Collaboration
Partner with editorial, sales, marketing, and accounts teams to understand
data requirements.
Support integration with third-party tools such as ERP, CRM, and e-
commerce platforms.
4. Reporting & Analytics
Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and automated reports for
business teams.
Provide insights into sales trends, inventory movement, royalties, and
customer preferences.
5. Troubleshooting & Maintenance
Identify, diagnose, and resolve database-related issues quickly.
Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring problems and implement
preventive measures.
6. Upgrades & Innovation
Manage database migrations, patches, and version upgrades.
Evaluate new database technologies and automation tools to improve
efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related
field.
Proven experience as a Database Administrator (SQL Server, MySQL,
PostgreSQL, or Oracle).
Strong command of SQL, database design, indexing, query optimization,
and performance tuning.
Knowledge of backup/recovery strategies and high-availability systems.
Familiarity with publishing workflows is an added advantage.
Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
Experience with cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Google Cloud
SQL).
Knowledge of Python or Java for database automation.
Exposure to BI tools like Power BI or Tableau.
