It is with a sincere sense of concern that the increasing cases of HIV/AIDS
continue to be one of the world’s major public health issues, especially among the
youth. Despite the existence of information, education, and communication
campaigns, many people still lack the right knowledge about HIV/AIDS transmission,
prevention, and treatment. This lack of awareness, combined with widespread stigma
and discrimination, causes fear and isolation among people living with HIV (PLHIV).

According to the Department of Health (DOH), there are over 100,000 recorded
HIV cases in the Philippines, and new infections are still rising, particularly among
people aged 15–25 years. The World Health Organization (WHO) also states that
education and early testing are key to prevention, but social stigma prevents many
individuals from seeking help. This shows that HIV/AIDS is not only a health issue but
also a social and moral concern that challenges our compassion and sense of
responsibility.

That is why we, the youth volunteers, decided to launch our advocacy entitled
“Advocacy for Life: An HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign 2025 Towards a Healthy and
Compassionate Nation.” This advocacy aims to spread information about HIV/AIDS,
promote prevention and testing, and break the stigma surrounding people living with
the virus. Through knowledge, compassion, and unity, we can create a safe and
supportive environment where everyone is informed and accepted.

For these reasons, we, the youth volunteers, launched the “Advocacy for Life: An
HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign 2025 Towards a Healthy and Compassionate Nation.”
Our goal is to address the gaps in knowledge, combat misinformation, and break the
stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS through education, compassion, and unity. By
spreading correct information, promoting early testing, and encouraging empathy, we
aim to create a safer and more supportive society where individuals are empowered,
informed, and free from discrimination.

The “Advocacy for Life: HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign 2025” generally aims to educate
and empower individuals to take part in eradicating misinformation and discrimination about
HIV ( Human Immunodeficiency Virus) AIDS ( Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) while
promoting prevention and early treatment .

SPECIFICALLY, THIS ADVOCACY SEEKS TO:

To provide accurate and updated information about HIV/AIDS causes,
prevention, and management.
To foster understanding, empathy, and support for PLHIV (People Living with HIV)
within communities and schools.
To encourage open communication about sexual health and responsibility.
To collaborate with medical experts and organizations to provide accessible HIV
testing and ignorance.
To combat misinformation, myths, and stigma about HIV/AIDS that continue to
spread among the youth and public.

To encourage voluntary HIV testing and counseling to promote early detection

and treatment.
To raise awareness about safe and responsible sexual behavior to prevent HIV
transmission.
To create a supportive environment for people living with HIV, free from
discrimination and judgment.
To strengthen partnerships with schools, health centers, and government units in
promoting HIV/AIDS education and services.

Furthermore, this advocacy aims to develop sustainable youth leadership by training

young ambassadors who will continue promoting HIV/AIDS awareness even beyond
the duration of the campaign. By equipping them with proper knowledge,
communication skills, and advocacy strategies, the program ensures that the fight
against stigma and misinformation remains ongoing. These youth leaders will serve
as role models who inspire their peers, encourage responsible decision-making, and
help build a generation that values health, compassion, and inclusivity.

HIV/AIDS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN 2025 TOWARDS A HEALTH AND COMPASSIONATE NATION
The “Advocacy for Life: An HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign 2025 Towards a Healthy and
Compassionate Nation” focuses on empowering and educating senior high school and college
students aged 15 to 25, as they are among the most vulnerable groups affected by misinformation
and risky behaviors. Through our campaign, we aim to engage youth organizations and community
groups to take an active role in promoting HIV awareness and prevention within their respective
circles. We also recognize the important influence of parents, teachers, and health advocates, who
serve as guides and mentors in shaping the youth’s knowledge, attitudes, and values toward sexual
health and social responsibility. In addition, we seek the partnership and support of local
government units (LGUs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that share our goal of
building a well-informed, compassionate, and stigma-free society. Together, these sectors form the
foundation of our advocacy—working hand in hand to promote education, empathy, and
empowerment in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

For us to be able to succeed with our advocacy, we initiated several meaningful activities that will
help people, especially the youth, to become more informed, aware, and compassionate toward
individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. These activities aim to educate communities, encourage
prevention, and eliminate stigma while promoting a supportive environment for people living with
HIV.
The following specific activities are hereby presented:
[Link] Seminar: “Know the Truth, Stop the Stigma.”, We believe that knowledge
is the strongest weapon against fear and discrimination. Through this seminar, we will
invite health professionals and HIV advocates to discuss the truths and myths surrounding
HIV/AIDS. By providing accurate and science-based information, participants will gain a
deeper understanding of how HIV is transmitted, prevented, and managed. Pamphlets,
posters, and visual aids will also be distributed to ensure that learning extends beyond the
event itself.
[Link] Education Training, As part of sustaining our campaign, we will select and train
young leaders to become “HIV Youth Ambassadors.” These peer educators will serve as
role models and advocates who will continue to share knowledge about HIV prevention
and compassion within their own communities. This activity empowers youth to take
responsibility and lead by example in spreading awareness.
[Link] HIV Testing and Counseling Program, Testing saves lives, and we aim to make it
accessible to everyone. By coordinating with the Department of Health (DOH) and local
health centers, we will organize free, confidential HIV testing and counseling sessions.
Before and after testing, participants will receive proper education and emotional support.
This program encourages early detection and treatment while normalizing the importance
of knowing one’s status.

4. Information Drive and Poster Making Contest, To make our advocacy more engaging and
creative, we will conduct an information drive and launch a poster-making and slogan competition
with the theme “Be Informed. Be Compassionate. Stop HIV.” This activity encourages students
and youth groups to express their understanding and support for the advocacy through art. The
winning posters will be displayed around schools and public spaces to reach a wider audience
and remind everyone that HIV awareness begins with education and empathy.
5. “Light of Hope” Candlelight Memorial Event, Compassion and remembrance are central
to our advocacy. Every December 1, in celebration of World AIDS Day, we will hold a candlelight
memorial event entitled “Light of Hope.” This event will honor those who have lost their lives to
AIDS and show solidarity with those living with HIV. It will also serve as a reminder that behind
every statistic is a real person deserving of love, dignity, and understanding.
6. Social Media Awareness Campaign, In this digital age, social media is a powerful tool to
reach thousands of people. We will create short videos, infographics, and testimonials to be
shared online using hashtags #StopTheStigma and #AdvocacyForLife2025. Through these
posts, we aim to spread correct information, fight misinformation, and inspire others to support the
advocacy. The campaign will continuously remind everyone that HIV/AIDS awareness is not just
a health issue—it is a human issue that calls for empathy, respect, and unity.

We aim to awaken awareness, compassion, and collective responsibility in

addressing one of the most pressing health and moral issues of our time. As youth
advocates, we believe that ignorance breeds fear, and fear fuels discrimination. With
education, empathy, and unity, we can protect lives and restore dignity to those
affected by HIV/AIDS.

Our advocacy reminds everyone that knowledge saves lives, compassion heals
hearts, and awareness changes the world.

As youth advocates, we strive to raise awareness and foster compassion in

addressing one of the most pressing health and moral issues of our time—HIV/AIDS.
We believe that ignorance breeds fear, and fear ignites discrimination.
Through education, empathy, and unity, we can protect lives and restore dignity to
those affected by this epidemic.
