1. Adverbs
An adverb is a word that describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. It tells how, when, OR where
something happens.
Examples:
• She sings beautifully. (How?)
• We will go tomorrow. (When?)
• The cat is sitting outside. (Where?)
Common adverbs: slowly, quickly, loudly, happily, yesterday, now, outside
2. Prepositions
A preposition is a word that shows the relationship between a noun or pronoun and another word in the
sentence. It usually tells position, direction, time, or manner.
Examples:
• The book is on the table. (Position)
• She went to the market. (Direction)
• We will meet after school. (Time)
• He walked with his friend. (Manner)
Common prepositions: in, on, under, over, near, behind, between, before, after, with, to, from
3. Simple Present Tense
The Simple Present Tense is used to talk about actions that happen regularly, facts, and general truths.
Formation:
• Singular subjects (he, she, it) → add -s or -es to the verb.
• Plural subjects (I, you, we, they) → use the base verb.
Examples:
• She writes a letter.
• They play football every day.
• The sun rises in the east.
• I like ice cream.
4. Simple Past Tense
The Simple Past Tense is used to talk about actions that happened in the past.
Formation:
• Regular verbs → add -ed (e.g., play → played, walk → walked).
• Irregular verbs → change completely (e.g., go → went, eat → ate).
Examples:
• She baked a cake yesterday.
• They went to the park last Sunday.
• I wrote a letter.
• He watched a movie.
5. Present Continuous Tense
The Present Continuous Tense is used for actions happening right now or at the moment.
Formation:
• am/is/are + verb + ing
Examples:
• I am eating lunch.

6. Simple Future Tense
The Simple Future Tense is used to talk about actions that will happen in the future.
Formation:
• will + base verb
Examples:
• I will go to the park tomorrow.
• She will visit her grandmother next week.
• They will play football in the evening.
• We will eat pizza for dinner.
7. Punctuation
Punctuation marks help make sentences clear and meaningful.
Common punctuation marks:
1. Full stop (.) → Used at the end of a statement.
• Example: I love my family.
2. Question mark (?) → Used for questions.
• Example: Where is my book?
3. Exclamation mark (!) → Used for strong emotions.
• Example: Wow! That’s amazing!
4. Comma (,) → Used to separate words in a list or add a pause.
• Example: I bought apples, bananas, and grapes.
