Medical Inventory System Project

The Medical Inventory System project, developed by Vivaan Sisodiya for Class XII, aims to manage medical store records using Java in a console-based application. It allows users to perform CRUD operations on medicine details, including adding, viewing, searching, and deleting records. Future enhancements may include database integration, a graphical user interface, and additional features like expiry date tracking.

This is to certify that Vivaan Sisodiya, student of Class XII, has successfully completed the
project titled “Medical Inventory System” using Java (NetBeans IDE) as part of the
Information Technology (802) curriculum.

🔷 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I would like to thank my IT teacher, my school, and my parents for their guidance and
support in completing this project successfully.

🔷 AIM OF THE PROJECT

The main aim of this project is:
 To manage medical store records
 To store medicine details
 To add, view, search, and delete medicines
 To understand Java programming and logic building

🔷 OBJECTIVES
 To learn Java programming
 To manage medical inventory data
 To perform CRUD operations
 To use loops, arrays, and switch case
 To create a real-life based project

🔷 TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY USED

Tool Description
Language Java
IDE NetBeans IDE
Interface Console Based
OS Windows

🔷 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Medical Inventory System is a simple Java console application.
It allows the user to:

 Add medicine details

 View all medicines
 Search medicine by name
 Delete medicine record
 Exit the system

This project is suitable for Class 12 board practical.

🔷 FLOW OF THE PROGRAM

1. Start Program
2. Display Menu
3. User Selects Option
4. Perform Operation
5. Repeat Until Exit

🔷 SOURCE CODE (Java – NetBeans IDE)

📌 Create a new Java Project in NetBeans
📌 Create a class named: MedicalInventorySystem

import [Link];

public class MedicalInventorySystem {

static Scanner sc = new Scanner([Link]);

static String[] medName = new String[50];

static int[] medQty = new int[50];
static double[] medPrice = new double[50];
static int count = 0;

public static void main(String[] args) {

int choice;

do {
[Link]("\n===== MEDICAL INVENTORY SYSTEM =====");
[Link]("1. Add Medicine");
[Link]("2. View Medicines");
[Link]("3. Search Medicine");
[Link]("4. Delete Medicine");
[Link]("5. Exit");
[Link]("Enter your choice: ");

choice = [Link]();

switch (choice) {
case 1:
addMedicine();
break;
case 2:
viewMedicine();
break;
case 3:
searchMedicine();
break;
case 4:
deleteMedicine();
break;
case 5:
[Link]("Thank You! Exiting System.");
break;
default:
[Link]("Invalid Choice!");
}
} while (choice != 5);
}

static void addMedicine() {

[Link]("Enter Medicine Name: ");
medName[count] = [Link]();

[Link]("Enter Quantity: ");

medQty[count] = [Link]();

[Link]("Enter Price: ");

medPrice[count] = [Link]();

count++;
[Link]("Medicine Added Successfully!");
}

static void viewMedicine() {

if (count == 0) {
[Link]("No Medicines Available.");
} else {
[Link]("\nName\tQuantity\tPrice");
for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) {
[Link](medName[i] + "\t" + medQty[i] + "\t\t" +
medPrice[i]);
}
}
}

static void searchMedicine() {

[Link]("Enter Medicine Name to Search: ");
String search = [Link]();

boolean found = false;

for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) {

if (medName[i].equalsIgnoreCase(search)) {
[Link]("Medicine Found!");
[Link]("Name: " + medName[i]);
[Link]("Quantity: " + medQty[i]);
[Link]("Price: " + medPrice[i]);
found = true;
break;
}
}

if (!found) {
[Link]("Medicine Not Found!");
}
}

static void deleteMedicine() {

[Link]("Enter Medicine Name to Delete: ");
String del = [Link]();

boolean found = false;

for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) {

if (medName[i].equalsIgnoreCase(del)) {
for (int j = i; j < count - 1; j++) {
medName[j] = medName[j + 1];
medQty[j] = medQty[j + 1];
medPrice[j] = medPrice[j + 1];
}
count--;
found = true;
[Link]("Medicine Deleted Successfully!");
break;
}
}

if (!found) {
[Link]("Medicine Not Found!");
}
}
}

OUTPUT
===== MEDICAL INVENTORY SYSTEM =====
1. Add Medicine
2. View Medicines
3. Search Medicine
4. Delete Medicine
5. Exit
Enter your choice: 1
Enter Medicine Name: Paracetamol
Enter Quantity: 50
Enter Price: 25
Medicine Added Successfully!

🔷 LIMITATIONS
 No database used
 Data is temporary
 Console based only

🔷 FUTURE SCOPE
 Add database
 Add expiry date
 GUI based application
 Billing system

🔷 CONCLUSION
This project helped me understand Java programming, arrays, methods, and menu driven
programs.
It is useful for medical store inventory management.
