A Day at the Animal Shelter
Every Saturday morning, Anna and her friend Ben go to the animal shelter near their school.
They love animals, so they spend a few hours there every weekend. When they arrive, the
dogs usually start barking because they are excited to see them.
Anna always helps to feed the cats. She talks to them softly and gives them fresh water and
food. Some of them are shy, but after a few minutes, they come closer and play with her.
Ben, on the other hand, likes to take care of the dogs. He walks them around the park
behind the shelter. He loves to see them run and wag their tails.
After feeding and walking the animals, Anna and Ben help clean the cages. It’s not easy
work, but they don’t mind doing it. They know that these animals need love and care, and
helping them makes them feel happy.
Sometimes, new families visit the shelter to adopt pets. Anna shows them the cats, and Ben
talks about the dogs. The children who come often say, “I like this one!” or “Can we take that
one home?” When the animals find a new family, Anna and Ben feel proud because they
helped.
Before leaving, the shelter manager thanks them for their time and says, “See you next
week!” They always smile and say, “We’ll be here!”
Anna and Ben love this place. It is full of kindness, and they feel lucky to be part of it.
