PROCESS IMPROVEMENT FOR AN ONGOING PROBLEM
Challenges
• In April 2021, when I was working on monthly reports of our company where by I came
across with an ongoing problem I was facing while budgeting about the company’s old
template where vlookup was implemented.
• The issue was templates were working very slowly while handling large datasets. Also, they
were not dynamic as any addition or deletion in a column in the table it will show us the
error and was only showing the lookup array towards the left.
Strategy
• Collaborate with my senior analyst Vishal and the automation team to explain the
challenges.
• Explained the benefits of using xlookup which was recently introduced in 2019 and its
dynamicity and ability to handle large datasets also no errors will appear if we add or delete
the columns.
Result
• Increased efficiency while working on those templates and saved manual rectification
process time from 5 hours to 3 hours on average while working on the template.
• Collaboration with the automation team and attention to detail resulted in the automation
and improvement of the process
