What only can be told

Screenplay by William Draper

Act #1

Scene #1

2 teens walk on a sidewalk chatting about the girls they like.

Jacob:

So Donato, I'm going out with Maria tomorrow. That’s pretty big, right?

Donato:

No, not really.

Jacob:

Why not?

Donato:

She is a massive whore.

Jacob:

Mm, ya you’re right.

Donato:

But Jacob I can’t complain, Alex, I’m pretty sure she has slept with half of the
football team, you know, except for you.

Jacob:

So just as big.

Donato:

Yup.

Scene #2

They walk towards an alley to take a shortcut. They pass near a kind of well-
dressed teen huddled on the ground, and he grabs Donato’s leg

Well-dressed kid (crying):

Don’t go in there! Please. Take a long way. Value your friendship.

Well-dressed kid (muffled and crying):

Micheal.

The teens are befuddled and decide to cut through an alley anyway.

Well-dressed kid (crying):

No. NO!

The teens turn their heads, but the kid is gone. They try to leave the alley
but can’t. They are stopped by an invisible barrier.

Act #2

Scene #1

A week goes by, and they only see cars going by while they walk around the
alley. (Water?)

Jacob:

It’s been a week and we can’t get a single goddamn message out.

Donato:

You don’t think I know that!

Jacob:

I am just stating the obvious.

*Donato hmphs.*

Jacob:

What in the world could we do.

Donato (Getting frenzied):

Maybe this horror is some test from God.

Maybe in order to end it we must combat a horror with an atrocity.

Jacob:

Like what?

Donato suddenly tries to choke Jacob, who fights back. (Combat) Jacob gets
the upper hand, and they start fighting with Jacob being the victor and
Donato being killed.
Scene #2

Jacob walks to the end of it and seeing that the well-dressed kid

Well-dressed kid:

I tried to warn you.

Jacob:

Have you been out here this whole week?

Well-dressed kid:

No. When I got in it had been a week and then when I got out it had been
seven minutes.

Jacob:

I heard you say Micheal.

Well-dressed kid:

I was referring to my brother. He killed himself to get me out.

Jacob looks back at the alley and can’t see Donato’s body

Jacob:

Oh my God! Where’s Donato?

Well-dressed kid:

I don’t know. Happened with Micheal.

Jacob walks away quickly.

The well-dressed kid goes into the alley and looks around still searching for
any sign of his brother. Realizing that he’s back in the alley, he panics and
tries to leave fearing he will be trapped again. But instead finds out he can
get out and walks out of frame.
