POSSIBLE PRE-DEFENSE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF GEOPOLYMER CONCRETE WITH JUTE FIBER:
OPTIMIZING CURING REGIMES FOR
STRENGTH AND DURABILITY
1. What main problem will your study address?
This study will focus on the lack of research sa paggamit ng jute fibers bilang
material.
2. Why is your study important?
Importante ito kasi it promotes sustainable at eco-friendly construction materials gamit
natural fibers.
renewable reinforcement materials.
3. What will be the main objective of your study?
To determine how varying percentages ng jute fiber (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) and
different curing regimes affect compressive, flexural, at split tensile strength ng
geopolymer concrete.
4. What research gap will your study address?
Most studies focus sa conventional materials like steel fibers or synthetic polymers. Few
kaya kulang ang experimental data on mechanical properties.
5. What research design will you use?
concrete specimens with different fiber percentages at i-subject sa testing under different
curing regimes.
6. Why is an experimental design appropriate?
pinaka-effective.
7. What will be your variables?
Independent Variables: Fiber content (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) at curing regime
(water, air, controlled humidity)
Dependent Variables: Compressive strength, flexural strength, split tensile strength
8. Who will be your respondents?
Walang human respondents.
gagawin at susukatin.
9. Where will the study be conducted?
Sa Barangay Lumbac Toros, Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur, kung saan puwede makakuha
at maghanda ng jute fibers at mag-cast ng concrete specimens.
10. What materials will you use?
Materials: Jute fibers (10–20 mm, cleaned & dried), geopolymer concrete constituents
(fly ash, GGBS, alkaline activator), distilled water, lubricant/release agent.
Equipment: Mechanical mixer, cube/beam/cylinder molds, compression testing
machine, UTM, curing tanks / humidity chamber, digital scale, thermometer, hygrometer,
safety equipment.
11. Why will you use jute fiber?
Dahil ito ay natural, renewable, and lightweight fiber. Nakakatulong ito sa tensile at
flexural strength ng geopolymer concrete at promotes eco-friendly materials.
12. Why optimize curing regimes?
Different curing methods affect strength development and fiber-matrix bonding.
Optimization ensures maximum compressive, flexural, at split tensile strength ng
concrete.
13. How will you prepare the jute fibers?
14. How will you ensure uniform mixing?
15. How long will the specimens be cured?
28 days, following standard curing procedures. Different regimes (water, air, controlled
humidity) allow comparison sa effect sa mechanical properties.
16. What standards will guide your testing?
ASTM C109 – Compressive Strength of Hydraulic Cement Mortars
ASTM C78 – Flexural Strength of Concrete
ASTM C496 – Split Tensile Strength of Concrete
17. How will compressive strength be measured?
18. How will flexural strength be measured?
19. How will split tensile strength be measured?
method (MPa).
20. What statistical tools will be used?
Mean
Standard deviation
ANOVA / t-test para makita kung may significant differences among fiber content at
curing regimes
21. Why choose ANOVA?
Dahil multiple groups (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) at three curing regimes, ANOVA is
22. Which combination of fiber content and curing regime do you expect to perform
best?
Base sa literature, 10–15% jute fiber with water or controlled humidity curing usually
gives balanced compressive, flexural, at split tensile strength, pero kailangan testing para
ma-confirm.
23. How will fiber content affect mechanical properties?
Increasing fiber content improves tensile at flexural strength, pero excessive fibers
(>20%) may reduce bonding ng matrix, leading to lower compressive strength.
24. How will curing affect properties?
Water curing promotes better reaction and bonding, controlled humidity prevents rapid
moisture loss, at air curing is slower. Tamang regime maximizes strength at durability.
25. What challenges do you expect during the study?
