1. Introduction

I worked in a non-governmental organization for the last seven years. It is a

rehabilitation-based hospital named Center for the Rehabilitation of the paralyzed.
This rehabilitation center has many collaborative organizations and stakeholders.
One of the main functions of this organization is to re-integrate the patients after
rehabilitation so that they cannot become a burden on society. They can earn their
own livelihood and can be included in the mainstream society. Development like
this multidisciplinary organization needs collaboration and inclusion of all
stakeholders. For the development of the organization structure, we need to consider
both internal and external factors. Embarking leadership development within the
organization can involve both personnel and organizational improvement.

In order to succeed in any organization, leadership is very important to shape its

culture and inspire teams to achieve their full potential. We will embrace
collaborative ideas to explore the theoretical underpinnings, practical strategies and
personal reflections in this process.

Leadership development is built upon a diverse array of theoretical frameworks.

Transformational leadership theory highlights the significance of visionary and
inspiring leadership, as well as personalized attention to individuals, in effecting
organizational change. Situational leadership models, exemplified by Hersey and
Blanchard's approach, stress the necessity for leaders to adjust their methods
according to the readiness and growth stage of their followers. These theories serve
as the foundation upon which we construct our strategy for leadership development
within the organization.

3. Cultivating Leadership within the Organization

Practicing leadership within the organization is very significant. Surveys,

interviews, assessments, and evaluations can be a regular process of leadership
cultivation. Organizations can organize different leadership courses that can enhance
performance. Evaluation is important to identify strengths, challenges and
developmental opportunities across all levels of the organization.

4. Designing a Holistic Leadership Development Program

After getting output from our assessment, we should design a holistic leadership
development program that will focus and address the multifaced needs of our
organization. Our program consist of a blend of formal training, experimental
learning, coaching, and mentorship initiatives, designed to nurture the different
talents and aspirations of our leaders.

5. Personnel involvement

We firmly believe that leadership development is a collective endeavor that thrives

on the active engagement of our personnel. To this end, we foster a culture of
inclusivity and collaboration, inviting input and participation from all corners of the
organization. Focus groups, feedback mechanisms, and cross-functional projects
serve as conduits for harnessing the collective wisdom and creativity of our
workforce. Personnel involvement in any organization in essential in developing
leadership in that person and within the person. In addition, personnel involvement
is also important to increase the knowledge, skill, experience, commitment, or value
of the employees to improve their performance.

6. Manipulating external partnership

We give importance to the value of external partnerships in enriching our learning

environments although internal expertise forms the bedrock of our leadership
development efforts. Collaborating with different stakeholders, donors, politicians,
philanthropists, leadership consultants, and academic institutions, we try to reservoir
of diverse perspectives and research implications to augment our internal
capabilities. Because we believe that without giving importance the external
partnership leadership in the internal environment can be vulnerable to
sustainability.

7. Implementation and Ceaseless improvement

We plan to implement our leadership development initiatives with precision and

purpose. Regular checkpoints, feedback loops, and performance metrics enable us
to monitor progress, and identify problems and solutions as needed. Continuous
reflection and monitoring ensure that we remain active and responsive to every need
of the organization.

8. Approach to leadership development

Our approach to leadership development within our organization is grounded in

collaboration, involving personnel at all levels of the organization. We recognize
that effective leadership development is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor but requires
tailored strategies to meet the diverse needs of our workforce.

9. Applied Part

9.1. Assessment and Planning

Assessment and planning are the most two important parts in the development of
leadership within an organization. They act like foundation in which effective
leadership development can stands for. It ensures alignment with the organizational
goals and meets specific needs and challenges.

We should start the assessment process understanding the current leadership

situation, using surveys, interviews and evaluation of the performance. It helps to
identify strengths, weaknesses and the areas that needs improvement. This
assessment acts like a base for developing a strategic plan for the development of
the organization. Here I will try to explain the process of assessment and planning
for leadership development within our organization:

9.1.1. Assessment

To have a clear understanding of the current leadership situation is very essential

before starting the leadership development process. The assessment process should
have:

9.1.1.a. Current leadership situation

First, we need to evaluate the current leadership team. Skills, competencies,

experiences and performances of the current leadership team need to analyse. Then
we should select key leaders and potential leaders within the organization. After that,
we assess leadership culture, value, and effectiveness as it varies greatly from
organization to organization.

7
9.1.1.b. Needs Analysis

Conducting a needs analysis is crucial for nurturing leadership within the

organization. This involves gathering feedback from employees through surveys,
interviews, and focus groups to comprehend leadership strengths, weaknesses, and
areas for growth. Additionally, analyzing organizational data such as turnover rates,
employee engagement scores, and performance metrics is essential to grasp the
organization's needs comprehensively.

9.1.2. Planning

9.1.2.a. Setting goals and objectives

Identifying clear goals and objectives based on the assessment findings is one of the
important steps in leadership development. The goal depends on priorities and
overall strategic objectives of the organization.

9.1.2.b. Designing the program

Designing a comprehensive leadership program that addresses the identified needs

and goals of the organization is crucial for developing leadership in the organization.
We need to determine the format and delivery methods for the program. We also
need to consider factors such as budget, time constraints and participant preferences.

9.2. Developmental Programs

We can organize different leadership training workshops to improve communication

and decision-making. Regular coaching and monitoring can be arranged to provide
regular guidance and support. In addition, job rotation can improve employee skill
and reduce turn over.

8
10. Reflective self-assessment

From the beginning of my career, I was always an active participant in our

organization's leadership development. When I was doing my internship, was
responsible for guiding junior students and enlightening them to work as a junior
leader. After that, I was responsible for organizing the reintegration process with
people with disabilities. Then, I was the outdoor patient in charge for the
musculoskeletal department where I was responsible for developing and managing
musculoskeletal all affairs. From this, I have undergone a profound process of self-
discovery and growth. Always I was engaging in self-assessment exercises, peer
coaching sessions and developmental assignments have deepened my awareness.
Thus, my leadership style, strengths, and areas have improved greatly compared to
the beginner employee. Collaborating with colleagues across departments and
disciplines has broadened my perspective and enriched my leadership toolkit.
Moving forward I am committed to ensuring the principles of lifelong learning,
resilience and servant leadership in my role within this organization. From this
course I have gained the following skills:

10.1. Increased theoretical knowledge

I have tried to spend a significant amount of time reading and understanding

different leadership theories. That is why now I think my leadership capabilities has
increased because of strong theoretical knowledge. As the improvement of
knowledge self-confidence has improved.

10.1.2. Able to integrate theory into practice

I can now integrate theoretical knowledge into practical leadership situations after
this course. I think now I can handle leadership challenges more confidently and

9
with greater poise. This sense of confidence not only enhance my self-trust but also
increased my empowerment.

10.1.3. Continuous learning and development

After this course, I came to realize that leadership development is an ongoing

journey, and it needs continuous learning and refinement. Now I am committed to
further expanding my knowledge and want to explore new perspectives in leadership
research.

10.1.4. Skills Evaluations

Through the strengths of leadership competencies and communication skills now I

can identify decision-making abilities and emotional intelligence. learning happened
also from peers and teachers.

11. Conclusion

Leadership development is an ongoing process that needs continuous dedication,

adaptability, and collaboration. We can nurture improved leadership if we invest in
the growth and empowerment of our personnel. Continuous leadership development
is essential and mandatory for the organization's development.

Adding documents from the organization is not possible as I am not working there
now.
