length of the hall is one metre more than twice its width. Find the length and breadth of
the hall.
34. (a) As observed from the top of a 75 m high lighthouse from the sea-level, the angles 5

the same side of the lighthouse, find the distance between the two ships. (Take √3 =

(b) From a point on the ground, the angle of elevation of the top of a tree observed by a
person is 60° . When moved back by 28 m, in the same line, the angle of elevation
from another point on ground becomes 30° . Find the height of the tree and its distance
from the initial point. (Use √3 = 1.73).

Case study-based questions.
36. In a society, a yoga instructor was hired to train the people of the society
to live a healthy lifestyle. Yoga sessions were held daily from 5 p.m. to
7 p.m. in the society park. On day one, 5 people joined the yoga session,
on day two, 3 more people joined, on day three, another 3 people joined
and in this manner every next day, 3 more people kept on joining.
Based on the given information, answer the following questions :
(i) On which day did 59 people join the yoga session ? 1
(ii) How many people joined the yoga session on the 31st day ? 1
(iii) (a) The yoga instructor was paid 100 for each person 2
attending the yoga session. On which day would he earn 5,000 ?

37. Sunil goes to market for buying an aquarium for his house. He asked to the
shopkeeper to put some fish in the aquarium. The shopkeeper takes out 13 guppy
fish, 18 flowerhorn fish, 12 koi fish and 11 angel fish from the big tank he had and
put them in the aquarium that Sunil had bought. Now, he selects a fish at random.
On the basis of above information, answer the following questions.
(i) What is the probability of not selecting a koi fish? 1
(ii) Find the probability of selecting a flowerhorn fish. 1
(iii) (a) If total number of male fish in the aquarium is 36, then find the probability 2

38. A farmer has put up a decorative windmill in his farm with eight blades of equal
