• Tenses
There are 3 main tenses: Present; Past and Future.
1. Present Tense: we are referring to something that is happening now. (Look at the verb)
Example: She lives in East London.
I walk the dog.
2. Past Tense: we refer to something that happened already; it is in the past. (Look at the verb)
Example: He bought a brand new car.
The boy walked his dog down the road.
3. Future Tense: we refer to something that did not happen yet; it is still going to happen. (Add
the word will or shall in front of the verb)
Example: will + run = I will run to the shop.
shall + walk = I shall walk the dog.

• Sentence Skills
A sentence can be considered to have two parts: a subject and a predicate.
The subject is what or who the sentence is about; the predicate tells us what the subject is.
The predicate always begins with a verb.
