(d) 96 cm²
Q6. The first postulate of Euclid’s Geometry states: (a) A straight line may be drawn from any one
point to any other point. (b) All right angles are equal. (c) Things which are equal to the same thing
are equal to one another. (d) The whole is greater than the part.

Section B (2 × 6 = 12 marks)
Q7. Use remainder theorem to find the remainder when p(x) = x³ + 3x² + 3x + 1 is divided by (x + 1).
Q8. Factorize: x² – 5x + 6.
Q9. Solve: 2x + 3y = 12, x – y = 2.
Q10. In ∆ABC, ∠A = 50°, ∠B = 60°. Find ∠C and the type of triangle.
Q11. Write the distance of (–3, 4) from the x-axis and y-axis.
Q12. If the sides of a triangle are 7 cm, 8 cm, and 9 cm, find its area using Heron’s formula.

Section C (3 × 6 = 18 marks)
Q13. Verify the identity: (x + y)² = x² + 2xy + y².
Q14. Draw the graph of the equations: x + y = 5 and 2x – y = 1. Find the point of intersection.
Q15. In ∆PQR, if ∠P + ∠Q = 100°, find ∠R. Also prove that exterior angle is equal to the sum of
interior opposite angles.

the diagonals is 120 m. Find its area.
Q17. Show that (x³ + y³ + z³ – 3xyz) = (x + y + z)(x² + y² + z² – xy – yz – zx).
Q18. Draw the graph of 2x + y = 6. From the graph, find the coordinates where it cuts x-axis and
y-axis.

Section D (2 × 4 = 8 marks)
Q19. A class decided to plant trees in a triangular park with sides 25 m, 25 m, and 48 m. Using
Heron’s formula, find the area of the park and the number of trees that can be planted if 1 tree
requires 1 m² of area.
Q20. A shopkeeper sells notebooks. The cost of 2 pens and 3 pencils is Rs. 19, while the cost of 4
pens and 5 pencils is Rs. 37. Represent the situation algebraically and solve graphically to find the
cost of each pen and pencil.
