Most Essential Learning Competency (MELC): Identify the features of and

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the learner will be able to:
1. identify the features of and requirements in composing a research report
2. write a research report
3. appreciate the requirements in composing a research report
II. Subject Matter:
A. Topic/Lesson: Features of and Requirements in composing a Research Report
(Module 1)
B. Reference: RWS Self-Learning Module (SLM) for Quarter 4
C. Materials/Equipment: SLMs, laptop, television/multimedia projector
III. Procedure:
A. Review:
Ask a volunteer from the learners to give a recapitulation of the previous
discussion or the teacher may ask this question: How does a book review differ
from a book report?
B. Presentation:
Do you know the neighborhood that you live in? Do you know how it has
changed ever since you started living there? How was it before you even came
around? (The teacher after asking these questions shall encourage the learners to
answer it by filling in the table in the Let’s Warm Up part of the module.
Vocabulary Check
Let the learners find out the what the following words mean to better
understand the nature and process of research. Have them establish what they
know first and try to connect it with what they will learn in this lesson. (These are
words related to research or writing a research report.
C. Analysis/Discussion:
The teacher facilitates the discussion of Research report and its suggested
parts. It must be emphasized that the responsibility of the researcher does not
end after the research. Whether the research gets published or not, it is
imperative that findings be disseminated through a research report.
Provide the learners with a passage to be paraphrased.
Discuss the suggested parts of a research report.
Show them an example of a research report and have the learners examine it
following the suggested parts in writing.

D. Abstraction/Generalization:
Why do we need to write a research report?
What are the parts of a research report?
( Answers to these questions shall be generated from the learners to come up
with a generalization about the topic.)
E. Application:
The learners shall be directed to do the task in the Let’s Create part of the
module.
