Thank you for purchasing this Story Elements flipbook! I’ll be using this book with read
alouds and my weekly story from our anthology.

How to complete this book:
Tab 1: The students will illustrate where this story took place. If it happened in more than
one place, the students draw all the scenes.
Tab 2: The students will draw and label all the characters from the book.
Tab 3: The students will write about what happened in the beginning, middle, and end of the
story. (Struggling writers can draw what happened.)
On the back the students will write:
• The title
• The author
• The illustrator
What I love best about these books is that you can easily differentiate what each child
does to complete this assignment. Struggling students can simply draw and write basic
text, while the more proficient students can write more detailed information for each
section.
The measurements for this mini-flip
are precise and the pages must be
printed correctly in order for
everything to line up.
Please make sure to print in ACTUAL
size or they will print out much
smaller than they are meant to be.
Your printer might call it something
different, possibly “True to Size”. If it
is printed to “Fit” the page or scaled
down, the pages will print out smaller
than they are meant to be.
You may have to use a different
printer if yours is shrinking the pages
down. Feel free to email me if you
have any questions about this J
Take a look at the following page for
picture directions for copying and
assembling your book. Once you get
the hang of it, it goes quick J
1. Get the cover and the page
that says tab 3 together.
Check and make sure that the
cover and tab 3 are facing
the same direction as shown in
the picture to the left. Then
run through the copier with
option “1 sided to 2 sided” or
“back-to-back”. You will have
a two sided page.
2. Get the page that says tab 1
and tab 2. Have both tabs
facing left. Then run through
the copier with option “1 sided
to 2 sided” or “back-to-
back”. You will have a two
sided page.
3. Once you have your pages copied
back-to-back, you will align tabs 2 and 3
on the left.
4. Fold over the top
pages and align tab
1 to tab 2 and fold
down. Now just cut
down the middle
and you have two
flipbooks that are
ready to go!

After releasing my squared book, I
had requests for a larger version
that can be completed by younger
children that write a little bigger.
I’ve included it here for you.
The layout is exactly the same, just
larger. J
Just like the mini squared book, you
must print this in ACTUAL SIZE or the
book will not align.
Assembly directions are on the next
page.
1. Get the cover and
the page that says
tab 3 together. Flip
tab 3 upside down.
Make sure they are
facing the same
way as my example
on the left. Then run
through the copier
with option “1 sided
to 2 sided” or
“back-to-back”.
You will have a two
sided page.
2. Get the page
that says tab 2
and tab 1. Flip tab 1
upside down just
like my example
on the left. Then
run through the
copier with option
“1 sided to 2 sided”
or “back-to-
back”. You will
have a two sided
page.
3. Once you have your
pages copied back-to-
back, you will align tabs
2 and 3.
4. Pick up the top half
of the book. Align tab 1
to tab 2 and fold down.
Now just staple along
the top and you are
done!
