Scientific research should be the responsibility of governments rather than

commercial organizations.
Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

States must have more control over the scholar investigations rather than private
companies. I partially agree with this statement because the government has access
to more resources and is capable of minimizing the perils; however, on balance,
private entrepreneurs are more likely to be successful due to their independence.

The main reason why I believe that scientific researches should be conducted
under government’s observation is that it is able to utilize a wide variety of
resources. This is caused by the fact, that in case of necessity, the state ought to get
diverse institutions involved in the project, which makes it more efficient. In
addition to this, the investigations are likely to gain more funds and submit the
results within a certain deadline. For instance, by doing so, the majority of the
scientists backed by the government accomplish their tasks sooner.

Another reason why I support this notion is because of safety concerns. Each
technological advancement could possibly lead to destructive outcomes under
wrong supervision, thus vital breakthroughs should be under government’s
observation. As a result, it could help to keep the situation under control and use
the new technology for national interests. To illustrate, biological researches may
threaten the public if performed by individuals, who only seek personal interest.

In contrast, commercial organizations tend to take more risks which in some cases,
might result in successful outcomes. It is possible because they are not influenced
by certain regulations and only seek to reach their targets. As a result,
breakthroughs in private sector are more common. In particular, invention of
online payments by private sector was a major breakthrough in its time despite the
interest of the state.

In conclusion, I partially agree that the state should govern all the scientific
projects due to its efficiency and safety; however, the private sector might be more
innovative in some cases.
More and more people are becoming seriously overweight. Some people say that
increasing the price of fattening foods will solve this problem.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The number of people suffering from obesity is drastically rising. Some parts of
society hold the opinion that this issue will be regulated by charging more for junk
foods. I somewhat disagree with this statement because obesity is a result of
sedentary lifestyle and people’s altered priorities; however, the fattening foods
might become a less appealing option for price-sensitive consumers.
First of all, corpulence issue started to appear as a result of passive lifestyle. The
reason for this is the changes in the work environment where people spend more
time in the past decades. In addition to this, new technologies encourage the public
to be more passive by making their life more convenient. For instance, this
tendency resulted in the boom of delivery businesses.
Another factor linked to this issue is the diversity of priorities. Financial incentives
overweight health concerns, and consequently, people become more stressed and
vulnerable to diseases. To illustrate, recent studies indicate that the obesity
problem is a direct outcome of stress.
On the other hand, the application of high pricing on unhealthy foods would end up
in shrinker demand. This is because a big proportion of consumers is coming from
poor communities which are very price sensitive. Thus, the preferences of low-
income families will vary. In particular, statistical figures reveal that the obesity
rate in poor communities outstands among others.
In conclusion, I partially disagree that the problem of the increasing number of
overweight people can be resolved by the price surge of certain fattening goods.
This is because non-dynamic lifestyle and alterations in personal habits are the
major causes of this subject; however, the presented policy would be beneficial for
low-income communities. Given this situation, it seems that in order to overcome
this matter, comprehensive approaches ought to be applied.
Some people believe that the government should take care of old people and
provide financial support after they retire. Others say individuals should save
during their working years to fund their own retirement. What is your opinion?

There is currently a contentious argument whether state must look out for elderly
and financially assist them or not. I partially agree with this statement because it is
the primary objective of the government and it is made possible by the tax money
paid previously; however, there are some cases where individuals evade their
responsibilities.

In the first place, key purpose of the state is to take care of its citizens. This is
because it is the core principle of constitution. The incentive of the country is to
provide its people with better standards of life. For instance, every year many
facilities for elderly are constructed by the government.

Another reason why I support this idea is because people pay taxes during their
whole career. Citizens contribute certain amount of money to government budget.
As a result, they have every right to expect support. An average person serves its
country for thirty years and it would be unfair if it abandoned them.

On the other hand, there are some people who avoid their duties as a citizen. These
people usually don’t get a formal job and do not pay their taxes. Therefore it is
normal not to get support from government if they break the laws in the first place.

In conclusion, I believe that countries should take care of old people after their
retirement because it is their duty and tax money, however, people must also
consider their own actions and try not to dodge their roles.
It is important to give children the chance to act independently and make their own
decisions from early age. To what extent do you agree?

Making individual choices and being independent is significant for children’s

development. I partially agree with this statement because it assists them to gain
experience and sense of responsibility; however, certain degree of guidance is still
required.
One of the most important considerations is that by getting freedom, children are
able to obtain incomparable experience. It is essential because they might avoid their
possible upcoming mistakes and become more confident. In addition, they develop
their personality in a good manner and are more likely to be successful. For instance,
majority of entrepreneurs got accustomed to independence and attained experience
from very early ages.
Furthermore, it will encourage the development of the sense of responsibility. In
fact, people with this trait are considered as valuable asset for society. As well as
this, it also advances decision making skills as individuals take into account both
internal and external desires. To illustrate, majority of unsuccessful students failed
to pass their exams due to lack of responsibility.
Nevertheless, children require proper guidance in their early years. This is because
they are vulnerable and might easily fall under detrimental influence of environment.
Lack of control could result with negative impact on the life of young individuals.
In conclusion, I partially agree that giving freedom to children is essential for their
development. This is because it will form them as more experienced and responsible
individuals; however, on balance, the importance of control should not be neglected.
Given this situation, it seems like children should be given freedom of choice, but
without supervision from their parents.
It is possible to observe that majority of adults and student are going to operate
from home as computers get more affordable and available. I partially agree with
this statement because it is beneficial for time management and provides us with
more convenience.

The main reason why I support this notion is the fact that it aids us to waste less
time on traveling. People tend to lose a lot of time while driving to work,
especially in urban areas, by getting stuck in huge traffic jams. As a result, by
switching to online education or work, citizens will be able to spend more time
with their family and friends. For instance, by working or studying online, people
have more quality leisure time to spend with their beloved ones.

Another reason why I believe in online education and possibility to work from
home is its convenience. This is because there are no strict policies, no
requirements such as uniforms and people are evaluated just by their pure
performance. As a result, the younger generation and adults are able to express
their ideas and deal with pressure respectively. To illustrate, there are more online
courses available today due to higher demand.

On the other hand, operating online is not as effective as traditional studies and
work. It is problematic to cooperate without physical contact, and in addition to
this, some people need constant strict supervision. For instance, in online sessions,
people can miss crucial details and face hardships while try to focus.

In conclusion, I believe it is a positive development because it assists us to save

more time and to get rid of additional stress; however, it is not always effective.
Given this situation, it seems that both options can be implemented depending on
the field of studies or work.
Employers should focus on personal qualities over qualifications and
experience when choosing someone for a job To what extent do you agree or
disagree?

Personal skills need to be chosen over training and experience while hiring new
workers. I partially disagree with this opinion because the employers do not need
to train them and experience affects the quality of job completed; however, some
personal qualities also should be taken into consideration.

Firstly, the readiness of new employees to commence with their new job is
justified by the fact that they do not require any extra training, therefore no time
and finances will be spent by the management on that matter. As a result, qualified
employees tend to be more effective regarding their theoretical knowledge. One
good example of this is the job vacancies, where it can be observed that most
positions require high qualification, so the potential job holder could benefit the
company promptly.

Secondly, experience is also one of the vital factors that should be considered by
the HR managers. The reason for this is the fact that experience is directly related
with the quality of work. In addition, experienced employees have better decision
making skills. To illustrate, all top managers of big holdings have a minimum of
10 years of experience.

Nevertheless, personal qualities such as trust and cooperation are essential to work
within a team. In order to be effective and efficient, the whole team should operate
as a single mechanism.

In conclusion, I partially disagree that personal qualities should be the number one
factor while recruiting a new employee. This is because qualified and experienced
staff perform a more effective job with decent quality; however, on balance,
personal skills like teamwork and trust are significant in team projects. Given this
situation, it seems that the companies should make their decision based on the type
of job posted.
PLAN
We live in a world of technology these days. While internet brings with it clear
advantages, the problems in terms of control and security of information outweighs the
advantages.
Agree:
Control and security problems > advantages
1) Topic sentence: 3rd parties have access to confidential information ---- control
Justification: How ---- through applications and websites, devices
Extra Information: Result ---- fraudulent activities, government
Example: Every year, millions of people get scammed because their private
information was in possession of third parties, who seek their own interests.
Example: Huawei banned in US because the gov suspected it to selling data to
Chinese gov

2) Topic sentence: Online systems are vulnerable to cyber attacks ---- security
Justification: We save everything in cloud, and even if we trust the company /
provider, some hackers still might access to personal info of individuals
Extra information: As well as this, the system is not always reliable, malfunction
Example: Dark Web – sell credit cards for cheap
Disagree:
Control and security problems < advantages
1) Topic sentence: efficient and productive
Justification: emails, skype, online conferences, ecommerce
Extra: Pandemic – remote work --- hunger or disease?
Example: Top businesses: Amazon, Uber, Google – technology

2) Topic: no confidential info

Justification: don’t have to post any personal data
Extra: no need to worry
Example: majority uses for news and media
We live in a world of technology these days. While internet brings with it
clear advantages, the problems in terms of control and security of
information outweighs the advantages.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, technologies play a significant role in our lives. There is currently a

contentious argument over whether issues regarding monitoring and safety of data
overlook the obvious positive implications. I partially agree with this notion because
sensitive data might be possessed and used against one’s will; however, modern
technologies ease our lives.

In the first place, third parties might have access to confidential information. This is made
possible through popularity of certain applications, websites and even electronic devices
among the population. In other words, people enter their sensitive information online. As
a consequence, personal data of millions might either be victim of fraudulent activities or
be subjected to governmental use, seeking interests of third parties. For instance, a certain
number of people get scammed because their private information was in possession of
criminals.

Another reason is vulnerability of online systems. This is because new technologies are
not always reliable, and have tendency to malfunction. To be more precise, despite the
trust of consumers, majority of companies are not able to ensure constant data security
and therefore, experience myriad cyber-attacks on a regular basis. A clear illustration of
this are the hackers, who penetrate the system of companies and sell the data of
individuals, such as personal chats, emails and banking details.

Nevertheless, modern technologies might raise people’s productivity and efficiency by

comforting their lives. It can allow individuals to work remotely, and contact partners via
emails and online conferences, thus saving both time and money. In addition to that,
emerging number of e-commerce companies reflects the real demand. For instance, the
most popular and profitable company in the world, Amazon, purely relies on e-commerce
and utilization of high-tech solutions.

In conclusion, I partially agree that concerns regarding security and control of data
overshadows the merits of modern technologies. This is because sensitive information
might be accessed and used by the third parties; however, implications of these
technologies can bring comfort to our life and increase our productivity. Given this
situation, it seems that individuals should be more careful while entering any kind of
information online.
Today, most people get married and give birth in their thirties rather than
when they are younger.

Is this a positive or negative development?

Marrying in 30s is good

1) Career
J – self-developed, independent, stability
E – In addition to this, supporting family extra cost
E – Finance – reason number one in divorce

2) Life experience
J – know yourself better, get on well, trust your decision
E – go through conflicts, more patience, cold b looded
E – divorce rate under 30

Marrying in 30s is bad

1) Decrease in population
J – by age organism changes, steam cells decrease
E – As a result – difficult to have kids
E – Europe (tendency) the population has been decreasing
over the last decades
Today, most people get married and give birth in their thirties rather than
when they are younger.
Is this a positive or negative development?

In the past, majority of individuals used to start family life and have children while
they were under 30 whereas now, they tend do it later in life. I think it is partially a
positive tendency because career and life experience benefit the marriage;
however, people might face hardships while making a child.

The most important consideration is that professional development positively

influences the family life. As a general rule, supporting a family sometimes might
be a financial burden which is not always easily overcome. People in their 30s
have the opportunity to better develop their work-life balance, gain independence
and stability. As a result, there are more chances for the marriage to be a successful
one. For instance, financial stability is mentioned as one of the most important
reasons of divorces worldwide during the last year.

Furthermore, life experience also plays an important role in long-term

relationships. When time passes, one can better know his/her preferences and trust
own decisions. As well as this, people tend to become more patient, cold-blooded
which assists them to go through variety of conflicts. As a consequence, people
tend to get on better and not exaggerate any issues within the family. In particular,
more than half of couples who got divorced during the last year were under 30.

On the other hand, getting married later in life might cause decrease of population.
This is because as we get older, our organism changes and the number of steam
cells in females start to considerably decrease. Therefore, it is difficult to have kids
after 30 due to reduced chances. A clear example of this tendency can be observed
in Europe, which experiences drops in birth rate.

In conclusion, I consider the tendency of getting married after 30 as partially

positive one. This is because professional development and older age brings
stability and peace into relationships; however, on balance, this might result in
decline of population due to lower fertility rates. Given this situation, it seems that
couples should spend more time together and gain stability in life in order to
prevent a possible divorce.
The use of social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many people in society.
Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Plan:
advantages:
1. helps contact with each other, more efficient and effective
2. helps to have lessons or exams online.

disadvantages:

1. we can have health problems , by spending too much time on the computer

The use of social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many people in society.
Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Physical communication is being substituted by new technologies, such as social media. In my

opinion, there are more benefits than drawbacks of this tendency because it helps us to be more
productive and makes education more accessible; however, excessive use might result with
severe health issues.

First of all, the use of social media enables us to perform better. This is because we do not need
to leave our workplace to meet with clients, send documents and so on. Thus, we are more
efficient and can complete more tasks during a limited amount of time. In addition to that, we
can keep in touch with our relatives and friends easily, and as a consequence, we save both time
and money. For instance, nowadays, despite pandemic, the majority of companies are still
performing at the similar level by the use of modern technologies.

Secondly, the use of the Internet enables us to get education online. Generally, not everyone has
access to good education; however, the use of certain applications and websites made it
affordable for almost everybody to increase his/her qualification and skill set. As well as this, by
going online, people can also prepare for their upcoming exams and gain new knowledge. For
instance, there are a variety of online programs from such reputable universities as Harvard.

Nevertheless, the use of social media might cause harm to people’s wellbeing. This is because
individuals tend to get addicted to social media, and thus, spend the majority of their free time
there. As a result, people have problems with their vision. In addition to that, modern
technologies encourage sedentary lifestyle, as there is no need to move anywhere and every task
can be completed remotely. A clear illustration of this is the increasing number of delivery
services, because people do not bother to get some physical activity.

In conclusion, I believe that the merits of exploitation of modern technologies outweigh its
disadvantages. This is because it makes us more effective and helps to increase qualification; on
balance, however, its overuse might result with detrimental effects on humans’ wellbeing.
Some people think that the government should increase tax on unhealthy food to
encourage people to start eating healthily. To what extent do you agree or
disagree?

There is a growing public opinion on whether the state ought to put higher taxes on
harmful products in order to stimulate the public to start eating healthy. I partially
disagree with this notion because it does not affect the rich people and is not an
optimum proposition for busy people; however, it might alter the diet of people
from lower-income families.

First of all, the majority of junk food consumers opt this option in order to save
time. The reason for this is contemporary lifestyle, which forces individuals to
work long hours, thus by leaving less time to deal with cooking. As a result, this
segment cares mostly about the time spent on getting a ready meal, and there is no
better proposition than fast food in this scenario. For instance, a vast number of
fast food chains earn more via drive-through as their customers are mainly in a
hurry.

Secondly, individuals who are wealthy will keep purchasing and consuming
unhealthy foods. This is because any kind of tax increase will not have any impact
on their budget, therefore, they will still be able to afford it anyway. As a
consequence, no reforms can influence their decisions on their diet. For instance,
the price of junk food in fast food chains has continuously been increasing
throughout the years, but it did not affect the sales.

On the other hand, the application of high pricing on unhealthy foods would end up
in shrinker demand. This is because a big proportion of consumers is coming from
poor communities which are very price sensitive. Thus, the preferences of low-
income families will vary.

In conclusion, I partially disagree that the higher taxation of unhealthy products

will impact people’s eating habits. This is because individuals choose it to save
time and wealthy people will not get affected; however, on balance, people from
poorer communities might be forced to change their diet.
Different cultures are mixing today and the world is becoming a global village. Is it
a positive or a negative development?

1. Loss of cultural identity

1. Bilingualism is good - children

2. Prevent conflicts -- more tolerant

Globalization plays a major role in current societies by mixing representatives of

different nations. I think it is a somewhat positive development because it has a
good impact on the development of children and might help to prevent conflicts;
however, this might result in loss of cultural identity.

In the first place, globalization benefits the children. This is because kids living in
multicultural societies and families are more likely to be bilingual. It positively
affects their development and future life because they are more likely to be
successful due to their knowledge. In addition to that, they are more likely to
derive the best features from different cultures. For instance, studies show that a
child who knows more than one language from early ages is more likely to have
stronger cognitive skills.

Moreover, living in multicultural societies helps to prevent conflicts among the

nations. The reason for this is that individuals are forced to cooperate, thus they
realize that there is not much difference between them. As well as this, they are
less likely to be hostile and aggressive. For instance, a lot of Jewish and Arab
people live and work together in the US.

Nevertheless, this tendency might result in loss of cultural identity. This is due to
the fact that the younger generation will not be able to commit to one culture. As a
consequence, a lot of various traditions will go extinct and the nation will
eventually lose its cultural identity.

In conclusion, I believe that the process of globalization is partially a positive

tendency. This is because it brings a lot of advantages for the younger generation
and allows to restrain any disputes; however, smaller cultures might lose their
cultural identity after all. Given this situation, it seems that families living in a
multicultural society should endeavor to preserve their traditions and customs.
Interviews have always been the most common way to choose among job candidates.
Some people now think that there are better ways of finding the right person for a job.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Hiring an employee through an interview is the most accepted method among others.
I partially agree that there are a lot of other preferable ways of finding suitable candidates
because interview results are sometimes not fair and the candidates cannot always show all their
abilities; however, at the same time interviews enable the employers to determine the
psychological state of an individual.

First of all, interview results heavily depend on human factors, which is usually not objective.
This is because the HR managers might not like the candidate despite the fact that the person has
enough qualifications for the vacancy. As a result, the interviewer might make the decision
before actually checking the real qualifications of the potential employee. Thus, the company
would lose the opportunity to hire the specialist they actually need and the candidate will remain
unemployed. For instance, a lot of celebrities, scientists despite their intellect and aptitude have
been refused in interviews many times.

Another reason is inability of candidates to fully express themselves. This is due to the fact that
the majority of questions asked during the interview do not reflect the actual knowledge and
competency of a candidate. In addition to that, the candidate might feel anxious of unrelated
questions and give unsatisfactory answers. As a consequence, the employer will only hire people
who are capable of lying and exaggerating their skillset.

Nevertheless, choosing an applicant through an interview lets the employer determine the
psychological state of a person. This is made possible by asking tough and psychological
questions to the candidate. Therefore, the employer will be able to determine the state of a person
and how he behaves in difficult circumstances which is not possible to figure out by conducting a
test.

In conclusion, recruiting an employee via interview is the most popular way but from my point
of view this is not the best choice because it may not always end fairly and a person cannot
express himself/herself fully; however, it enables to assess an individual’s psychological state.
The difference in age between parents and their children has increased compared to
the past. Do you think advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?

In comparison with previous years, the age gap between kids and their guardians has
risen. In my opinion, there are more drawbacks rather than merits because there
might be misunderstandings between family members and the children can lose their
parents at a very early age; however, experienced parents can provide better life
opportunities.

First of all, the age difference between parents and kids can affect their
relationships. This is because the guardians do not get new interests of the youth,
and thus experience hardships understanding their kids. Therefore, the juveniles
lose their attachment to their parents and their friends have more influence over
their life and worldview. As a general rule, the majority of these adolescents form
bad habits.

Secondly, due to age gaps the offspring are more likely to lose their parents at an
early age. The reason for this is that despite the advancements in technology and
medicine, old people are still vulnerable to a number of diseases. As a result, there
is a higher chance of losing a parent, which will have a negative impact on a
child’s life. For instance, the current epidemic of COVID-19 has mostly affected
and even killed the adults who were older than 50 and already suffered from
certain illnesses.

Nevertheless, there are certain benefits for children to have older parents. This is
because these parents are more experienced and they know how to provide their
offspring with more opportunities and better life. As a consequence, they are more
likely to be successful due to a better education and mentorship from their parents.
For instance, older parents are more interested in their children’s education and
more supportive.

In conclusion, I believe that this tendency is more disadvantageous because the

family members might not get along and older parents are more likely to be
exposed to certain diseases; however, experienced guardians can offer more
opportunities.
Nations should spend more money on skills and vocational training for practical
work, rather than on university education.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

People ought to allocate more funds to developing their skills and getting job
training that are in demand rather than on higher education. I partially agree with
this statement for the following reasons.
First of all, individuals with relevant skills have more job opportunities. This is
because certain vocations are always in high demand; thus by developing practical
skills, people are more likely to find a job. In addition to this, they can immediately
start work as they do not require any extra training, which will last for a certain
amount of time. For instance, university graduates usually need some time for
adaptation and it is not the best investment for the companies.
Secondly, by choosing to learn practical skills, individuals evade lots of
unnecessary information. The reason for this is that they only focus on narrow
fields and never question the purpose of their studies like the others do. As a
consequence, they are more likely to be motivated and reach their goals. As well as
this, this kind of education will take less time, and the people can benefit from it
immediately.
Nevertheless, investing time and money in university is not always a bad idea, as it
offers more perspectives. The majority of high-end positions require a graduate
diploma, so getting a promotion without one is a challenging job. In addition to
this, employers are interested in hiring graduates as they have versatile set of
knowledge that can benefit the company in different ways.

In conclusion, I partially agree that it is better to invest in practical skills and

vocational training because it brings more job opportunities and prevents overload.
However, university education plays a significant role in further career
perspectives.
Some people believe that price is the only consideration when buying something.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Plan:
1) I agree that price is the only factor when buying something because there are
a lot of similar products in the market.
2) I disagree that price is the only factor when buying something because
quality is more important
3) I disagree that price is the only factor when buying something because
customer reviews are more important
Some parts of the society believe that the only factor affecting their purchasing
decision is the fee charged. I partially disagree with this opinion because quality
and customer reviews have greater influence on customers; however, sometimes
products differ only by pricing.

First of all, the quality of a product or service plays the key role in buying process.
This is because people prefer to invest in reliable products that will last longer. In
addition to this, purchasing a bad product might negatively influence health of
individuals. For instance, people might experience dermatological problems, high
levels of stress and headaches.

Another factor that affects the public’s buying behavior is customer reviews. The
reason for this is that potential customers trust the ordinary people more than any
form of marketing campaign, as it reflects the reality. As well as this, customer
feedbacks provide individuals with more detailed information about the product or
service. A clear example of this is increasing number of fake reviews by the
companies in order to boost their sales.

On the other hand, there are many similar products within a different price range.
They have comparable quality, functionality and appearance. As a consequence, a
rational buyer will purchase the cheapest option.

In conclusion, I partially disagree that price plays key role while deciding between
goods or services. This is because quality and customer feedbacks are considered
by majority of buyers; however, on balance, sometimes it is logical to purchase the
cheapest product when there is no difference in quality and functionality.
Some people say that children given pocket money every week will have lesser
money problems when they become adults. Do you agree or disagree?

There is a growing public opinion that kids who receive allowances on a weekly
basis will experience fewer financial issues in their mature years. I partially
disagree with this statement because the children will have a big impact over their
parents and squander their money; however, they might learn some money
management skills.
The most important consideration is the fact that kids will have the opportunity to
manipulate their parents. This is because they will spend all their funds in a
relatively short period of time and ask for extra money. Unfortunately, the majority
of parents might feel pity and empathy towards their offspring. As a result, the
children will spend even more money than before and become spoiled.

Furthermore, this tendency will promote irrational purchasing decisions among

kids. The reason for this is that most kids have never had any experience with
comparatively large amounts of funds and they are more likely to make poor
decisions. As well as this, other factors such as friends and classmates will also
have an influence over them. For instance, getting huge sums of money will allow
them to buy prohibited products such as alcohol or drugs.
Nevertheless, some young individuals might acquire money management skills
from this practice. This is because they learn how to allocate their funds over a
long period. In addition to this, children will also know how to prioritize their
needs. As a consequence, they will act more responsibly with money.
In conclusion, I partially disagree that providing children with pocket money every
week will have a positive impact on their future. This is because they are likely to
squander all the money and parents will not have control over their emotions;
however, some kids might learn how to manage funds. Given this situation, it
seems that this transition should be completed gradually in order to observe its
positive effects.
Some People Believe That In Order For A Hobby To Be Enjoyable, It Needs To
Be Difficult In Some Ways. TO what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is a growing public opinion that difficult hobbies tend to be more interesting
and engaging. I partially agree with this opinion because people’s interest remains
for a longer period of time and it might turn out to be their occupation; however,
sometimes it might result in a waste of time.

First of all, challenging hobbies attract people’s interest for a longer time. This is
because the feeling of enjoyment when one overcomes an obstacle fades away
more slowly. As a result, individuals dedicate more of their time to one activity.
For instance, people who love climbing spend years on this hobby.

Secondly, a demanding hobby might help people earn some money. The reason for
this is the fact that these activities cannot be performed by ordinary citizens. As a
result, a person whose hobby is challenging might turn out to be a specialist in that
area. A clear example of this is sportsmen, who transformed their interest into a
source of income.

Nevertheless, a difficult hobby might result in excessive time consumption. This is

due to the fact that people cannot find time for other activities or tasks. As well as
this, these hobbies tend to be both physically and mentally tiring whereas the
primary reason why people spend their time on a hobby is to relax and have fun.
For instance, no matter how interested one can be in puzzles, if it is too
complicated and requires several days for completion, it will squander lots of time.

In conclusion, I partially agree that in order to enjoy a hobby, it should be

demanding. This is because people will not get bored and it might help them to
earn some funds; however, a difficult hobby might waste a lot of time. Given this
situation, it seems that people should carefully consider their hobbies before
starting to invest their time.
In many countries, women and men are working full-time. It is therefore, logical
for women and men to share household chores. To what extent do you agree or
disagree?

In several countries, both males and females work full-time. As a result, division of
household chores is logical and relevant. I partially agree with this opinion because
unity and non-discrimination is vital for communication between men and women;
however, from time to time people can fall under pressure of society.
From my point of view, the main reason why women and men should share their
household chores is that it brings them together. While they share their household
chores, they have a chance to understand each other. For example, when we learn
something or we go to work, we have a chance to get to know a person and start a
friendship. We can also observe the same situation when we share household
chores. Thereby, understanding each other make people appreciate what they have
which brings people closer together.
Another important merit that enables sharing household chores between women
and men is avoidance of discrimination. When women and men are working full-
time, each of them want to get rest and relax. For instance, by sharing the
household tasks everybody gets a possibility to relax which avoids further
discrimination.
One major drawback is that during this process people can face with some negative
influence from society. Some parts of society thinks that the most popular
relationship model is the one where only women complete household chores.
Afterwards, when people share these tasks, society can put a lot of pressure on
them. If any of the parties is sensitive, this fact can exert psychological pressure.
In conclusion, I partially agree that sharing household chores between men and
women is important in our time. Unity and non-discrimination is the key to
understanding and communication; however, this can affect psychological stability
of people due to social pressure.
Prison is the common way in most countries try to solve the problem of crime.
However, a more effective solution is to provide people with a better education. Do
you agree or disagree?

Jail is the most popular way in the majority of states to overcome the problem of
crime whereas giving people education is a more preferable option. I partially
agree with this statement because by educating people we increase their awareness
and help criminals to start a new life; however, some individuals do not deserve a
second chance.

The main reason why I believe education is the most effective way to tackle the
problem of crime is that it informs people from an early age. This is because
governments can educate individuals about the harmful impact of drugs and
alcohol, which are considered one of the main reasons for committing a crime. In
addition to that, people need to know that their actions have consequences and a
mistake might ruin their life. For example, in the majority of developed countries,
prisons close down because the level of education is high.

Another reason why I support this notion is that education increases the
qualification of criminals and teaches them morale. By getting vocational training,
individuals are more likely to find a job and become valuable members of society.
As well as this, the criminals should be taught morale in order to distinguish right
and wrong. As a result, these actions prevent the criminals from coming back to
prison. A clear example of this is Norway, where ex-convicts have a chance to start
a normal life.

Nevertheless, prison is a good option for those who need to be isolated. This is
because some people can’t change due to their unwillingness or psychological
problems. Additionally, people need to be responsible for their actions. To
illustrate, the terrorist in New Zealand received a life sentence for the first time in
the history of the country after killing more than 50 Muslims in the mosque.

In conclusion, I partially agree that by providing education, government can tackle

the issue of crime. This is because it informs citizens about the consequences and
helps convicts to start a new life; however, some people must be isolated. Given
this situation, it seems that each case of crime should be dealt with individually.
Some people say that children given pocket money every week will have lesser
money problems when they become adults.
Do you agree or disagree?

There is a growing public opinion that teenagers will experience less financial
issues in the future if they receive money on a weekly basis. I partially disagree
with this opinion because youngsters will squander their pocket money and form
bad habits; however, they might acquire some money-management skills.

The most important consideration is the fact that children will just waste their
money. The reason for this is they will purchase a lot of useless and expensive
items. Furthermore, when they run out of money, they will ask for more and
manipulate their parents as they are not able to ignore their requests. As a result,
the youngsters will not appreciate the real value of money. A clear example of this
is increasing number of adults, who constantly get loans and borrow money from
acquaintances, because they never learnt how to manage money.

Another reason why I think children will face financial troubles in the future is
because they will develop harmful addictions. This is due to the fact that will have
access to dangerous products. As a consequence, teenagers can get addicted to
certain things. For instance, majority of smokers formed this habit in a young age,
when they were below eighteen.

Nevertheless, some young individuals can learn to manage their financial

resources. This is because they will know how to allocate their funds properly.
Therefore, they will be able to save money in the future. In particular, they will be
more motivated to save their finances when they manage a comparatively big
amount of money.

In conclusion, I partially disagree that if we provide young individuals with pocket

money once a week, they will be more successful at managing funds in the future.
This is because they will spend their money irrationally and can develop bad
habits; however, in some cases, it can be a good way to obtain money management
skills. Given this situation, it seems that parents should closely monitor their
children’s expenditures.
Some people think high-end technology can prevent and cut down the rate of
committing crime. Do you agree or disagree?

There is a growing public opinion that modern technology is able to limit and even
reduce the crime rate. I partially disagree with this notion because contemporary
security systems are vulnerable and the development of new technologies creates
more opportunities for convicts; however, it might help to limit the human
involvement.

The most important consideration is that modern security measures which rely on
machinery do not always provide sufficient level of safety. The reason for this is
that they are prone to cyber-attacks and malfunctioning. As well as this, it is
challenging to track down criminals and thus, almost impossible to prevent their
upcoming crimes. As a consequence, there are so many unsolved cases in the
police departments due to exploitation of new technologies.

Moreover, the advancements in the field of technology offer more opportunities to

break the law. This is due to the fact that anybody can learn programming online
nowadays and use their knowledge for personal interests. Indeed, personal data of
millions are being sold every day and this data is used to scam the victims,
blackmail them and commit other fraudulent activities. A clear illustration of this is
the increasing number of personal datas sold on Internet, specifically bank cards
and personal chats.

Nevertheless, high-tech solutions can minimize the amount of human error. This is
because individuals can make mistakes and it is difficult to keep concentrated.
With the help of modern technologies, individuals are able to take safety measures
more efficiently. As well as this, these security systems can be controlled remotely.
For instance, since the introduction of CCTV cameras and motion sensors, the
number of attempts to commit a crime has considerably decreased.

In conclusion, I partially disagree that current technologies will assist individuals

to reduce the overall amount of crime. This is because systems are not always
trustworthy and criminals also can make a good use of technologies; however, the
spread of security systems has made people’s life easier.
Some people believe that smart phones are destroying social interaction today.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is a growing public opinion that nowadays, mobile devices have negative
influence on communication in society. I partially agree with this opinion because
it makes people less productive and it is not a good tool to express real feelings;
however, mobile gadgets help us to keep in touch with others.

The primary factor we need to take into consideration in this day and age is that
smartphones make people lazier. This is because individuals mostly communicate
on social media and therefore, there is no need to meet. As a consequence, people
are not able to develop their soft skills such as communication which leads to
isolation and anxiety among the members of public. A clear example of this can be
observed in restaurants, where friends gather and instead of having conversation,
surf on their phones.

Alternative consideration is that people are not able to demonstrate their true
feelings. Sometimes people want to seem cool, thus they form dishonest
relationships. As a result, it might act as a reason for new prospective conflicts. For
instance, in most cases, long distance relationships endue to this reason.

There is also one main issue which we should not ignore; we are able to keep in
touch with everyone with help of smart phones. This is because distance or some
other factors preventing real social interactions can be bypassed. As well as this,
people make new acquaintance on internet. There are a lot of forums and groups on
social media, where people with similar interests can share and exchange their
ideas.

In conclusion, I partially agree that mobile gadgets have detrimental effect on

social interactions. This because it makes people lazier and causes conflicts,
however, we can to keep in touch with ones who are far away from us. Given this
situation, it seems that individuals should use their phone wisely and control their
usage time in order to prevent a potential harmful habit.
