Anatomy and Physiology of Reproductive System

The document provides an overview of the human reproductive system, detailing its anatomy and physiology for both male and female systems. It outlines essential features such as ovum liberation, internal fertilization, and the stages of reproduction including ovulation and fertilization. The content is aimed at educating on the mechanisms of reproduction and the key structures involved.

reproductive system
HUMAN
REPRODUCTIVE
SYSTEM
• It is the organ system by
which humans reproduce
and bear live offspring.
• consists the male and the
female reproductive
systems.
• necessary to continue
race and produce
offspring.
ESSENTIAL FEATURES OF
THE SYSTEM
• liberation of an ovum, or egg, at a specific
time in the reproductive cycle
• internal fertilization of the ovum by
spermatozoa, or sperm cells
• transport of the fertilized ovum to the
uterus, or womb
• implantation of the blastocyst, the early
embryo developed from the fertilized ovum,
in the wall of the uterus
ESSENTIAL FEATURES OF
THE SYSTEM
• formation of a placenta and maintenance
of the unborn child during the entire period
of gestation
• birth of the child and expulsion of the
placenta
• suckling and care of the child

2. Antral Stage
• The Antrum, which is a
region made up of cellular
fluids known as secondary
follicles, undergoes
development twice a mont
• two essential hormones
such as the luteinizing
hormone, and the follicle-
stimulating hormone is
necessary for the process.
3. Pre-Ovulatory Stage
• starts the production
of two unequal
haploid cells, that
are located in the
follicle.
3. Pre-Ovulatory Stage
• Now in the two cells,
only one receives the
lesser cytoplasm,
while the other takes
part in ovum
formation.
3. Pre-Ovulatory Stage
• Thus the cell with a
polar body multiplies
into two, while the
other arrests the
secondary cell in the
meiosis-2 phase.
4. Ovulation Stage
• development of
oocytes occurs in
the ovaries
• number of follicle
cells in the ovaries
increases rapidly
5. Fertilization
• a third polar body is
generated, instead of
oocytes degenerating
over some time while
being stuck in the
meiosis-II cell division.
