1. Sexual reproduction: Process where two parents produce offspring by fusion of gametes.

Differences: (i) Two parents involved; (ii) Offspring show variation.

2. Gametes: Male (sperm) and female (egg) reproductive cells.

They are haploid to restore diploid number after fertilization.

3. Fertilization: Fusion of gametes.

Occurs in humans in fallopian tube; in plants in ovule (ovary).

4. Structure of flower: Sepals, petals, stamen (anther+filament), pistil (stigma, style, ovary).

5. Unisexual flowers: Only male or female (papaya).

Bisexual flowers: Both male & female (hibiscus).

6. Pollination: Transfer of pollen to stigma.

Self-pollination: Same plant. Cross-pollination: Different plant.

7. Fertilization in plants: Pollen tube forms; male gamete fuses with egg in ovule forming zygote.

8. After fertilization: Ovary→fruit, ovule→seed, petals fall.

9. Seed structure: Seed coat (protection), cotyledons (food), embryo (plant).

10. Female reproductive system: Ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina.

11. Male reproductive system: Testes, scrotum, sperm ducts, glands, urethra, penis.

12. Human embryo development: Fertilization→zygote→embryo→implantation.

13. Implantation: Embryo attaches to uterine wall.

14. Placenta functions: Supplies nutrients & oxygen, removes waste, connects mother–foetus.

15. STDs: Bacterial—Gonorrhoea, Syphilis; Viral—HIV/AIDS, Herpes.

16. Puberty: Body becomes capable of reproduction.

Boys: Deep voice, facial hair. Girls: Menstruation, wider hips.

17. Reproductive health: Well■being of reproductive system; prevents STDs, ensures safe
pregnancy.

18. Menstrual cycle: 28■day cycle—menstruation, rebuilding, ovulation, thickening of lining.
