Writing homework_Driveless Cars
It is predicted that in the future cars will be driven by computers.
What are reasons behind this? Would it be a positive or negative
development?
In contemporary years, individuals hold the firm belief that vehicles will eventually be controlled
by computer systems for years to come. This development can be a significant change across
the world, especially for transportation, but it also has negative impacts on some aspects in
reality.
The prediction could be attributed to a variety of causes. Firstly, increasingly advanced
technologies in the automotive industry, along with artificial intelligence, could play a crucial
role in the emergence of autonomous vehicles in the future. Numerous corporations are putting
their money and efforts into several fields, such as sensor technologies, as well as automatic
systems for self-driving cars. Nowadays, in the USA, these vehicles from Tesla’s company are
extremely common in residents’ lives, and they can drive properly to parking slots without
requiring any human intervention. In addition, meeting people’s demands is also a reason,
causing the trend to become a reality. The people will no longer need to drive by themselves for
commuting; computers will take control of the vehicle instead, allowing them to use that travel
time for other activities, such as preparing for business.
On the other hand, the advancement has a wide range of drawbacks. Job displacements are
worth mentioning, as cars driven by computers could completely replace drivers, leading to
heavy burdens for their families when those jobs are the sole way to make a living.
Furthermore, excessive reliance on these vehicles can be a big contributor to their lack of
driving skills. In plenty of serious circumstances, especially when self-driving cars are out of
control due to unexpected errors or cyberattacks, people would not be able to address these
problems through their manual skills, giving rise to accidents.
In conclusion, with the progressively increasing industries and the demands of human beings,
which are key factors leading to the existence of autonomous vehicles. These means of
transport could bring detrimental effects on human life, resulting in the loss of jobs, and causing
incidents in some cases if people wholly depend on them.
