CIA-1 ( GROUP PROJECT)
Assessment Description: Students would be assessed on their understanding of the concepts and
principles of Company Law. Student’s will be able to identify and analyze the purpose and need of
different corporate governance principles brought under the Company’s Act 2013.
Group Project: CIA I
Assignment description:
CIA 1 is a group project of 20 marks. Each group will comprise of 5 members (the group will be created
by students themselves) and they should submit an empirical study on the given parameters of five
identified public listed companies in any state and an analysis (a report) as to whether there is effective
corporate governance in the management of the company. It is also important to note that repetition of
companies is not allowed.
Each team must identify the 5 listed companies from a respective state and add it in the google sheet
shared with you. Every group must check the shared excel sheet and add the name of companies to avoid
repetition of company names.
The empirical data collection should be about any five listed companies in any state. The data must
include statistics (information) of (1) women directors in the company,(2) number of independent
directors, (3)whether the company is facing any ongoing investigation by SFIO/NFRA, (4)What is the
total CSR spending of that company, (5)Whether there is any whistleblowing complaints/ auditing frauds
reported, (6)Which firm did the audit of the company and(7) information about any complaint related to
oppression and mismanagement in the company.
This should be followed by a report/ an analysis on whether there is effective corporate governance in the
company. The report of the group project ( not less than 2000 words)must be submitted in the google
class clearly mentioning the part of work undertaken by each student.
Rubrics will be provided and marks will depend on the authenticity and accuracy of the information
provided, the sources from which information is collected and the analysis conducted.
Late submissions will not be allowed and accepting late submissions will be at the sole discretion of the
teacher. Late submissions will result in penalty/ deduction of marks.
Learning outcomes: Students will be able to identify and understand the application of corporate
governance principles in public listed companies.
