a. Define rectangular prism and it’s volume
b. Apply the formula for finding the volume of a rectangular prism
c. Calculate the volume of rectangular prism

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Finding the Volume of Rectangular prism
References: K to 12 Grade 4 Curriculum Guide
Materials: Visual aids, flashcards
Value focus: Cooperation and unity

III. Methodology

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’ S

ACTIVITY
a. Daily Routine
1. Prayer Clint please lead the prayer Amen
Good morning children Good morning ma’am

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Activity
Okay class, I will divide you into
two groups and you will
answering this activity. I will give
you 5 min in answering this

the standards in doing group Choose a leader, writer
activity? and reporter ma’am
Cooperate with your
group and do not room
around ma’am

Very good, you may now start

your activity.

Group Activity
Direction: Read and understand
the problem below then answer
the questions that follows.
Problem: Mother has a
rectangular jewelry box. It has
length of 2cm, a width of 15 cm,
and a height of 4cm. What is it’s
volume? [Link] is it’s volume?
Questions:
[Link] is asked in the problem? 2. Rectangular prism
2. What kind of solid figure is a
jewelry box? 3. Length-2cm
3. What are the given data for the Width – 15cm
following: Height – 4
Length?
Width?
Height? 4. Multiplication
4. What operation is needed to
solve the problem? 5. 120 cm³
5. What is the answer of the
problem?

B. Analysis It’s good ma’am

How’s your activity this A little bit

morning?
Did find it difficult? We use Multiplication
Wow
What did you do to find the None ma’am
volume of a jewelry box?
Based in your activity, did you
have any idea about our topic this
morning?
C. Abstraction
Let’s proceed to our discussion

Our topic this morning is all

about finding the volume of
rectangular prism
But before that we will going to
define first rectangular prism and
volume.

Rectangular prism is a three-

dimensional solid shape with six
rectangular faces, twelve straight
and eight vertices.
Volume refers to the amount of
three- dimensional space
occupied by an object or
substances.
Find the volume of rectangular
prism with base length 9cm, base
width 6cm, and height 15 cm.
In finding the volume of
rectangular prism, it is the
formula: V= lwh.
To find the volume, we will use
multiplication.
Given:
Length- 9cm. V= lwh
Width – 6cm. = l×w×h
Height 15 cm. =9×6×15
V= 810cm³
Next problem
The first rectangular prism has a
base that measures 6cm length by
7cm width and has a height of Yes ma’am
1cm. What is it’s volume?
Formula: V= lwh
L- 6cm. V= l×w×h
W- 7cm. = 6×7×1
H-1cm. V= 42cm³
Did you understand class?

Another example:

Yes ma’am

Yes ma’am

Who wants to solve this? No ma’am

Okay Karen
Is Karen answer’s correct?
D. Application
Very good
Okay class did you understand
our lesson this morning?

Did you have any questions?

Clarification?
1.L-10cm V= lwh
W-2cm. = 10×2×3
I have prepared here a task, who H- 3cm. V=
wants to go to the board and
answer this problems? 2. L-4cm. V=lwh
W- 3cm = 4×3×5
H- 5cm. V=
Find the volume of rectangular
prism. 3. L- 3ft. V= lwh
W- 3ft. = 3×3×15
H- 15ft. V=
V. Evaluation
Direction: Find the volume of the following rectangular prism.
1. L-5cm. 2. L- 8m. 3. L- 9cm. 4. L- 10cm
W- 4cm. W- 6m. W- 7cm. W- 7cm
H- 3cm. H- 7m. H- 4cm. H- 4cm
V-? V-? V-? V-?
5. L- 5m. W- 4cm. H-2cm. V-?
Vl. Assignment
Find the volume of the rectangular prism.
