ARGUMENTATIVE TEXT
An Argument text is a piece of writing that uses evidence and facts of
support a thesis, or central claim
The Purpose is to persuade the reader to take a specific action or to
believe that a point of view is valid.
Generic Structure of Argumentative :
1. Has five paragraphs
2. An introduction (Provide background information and introduce the
statement)
3. Three Body paragraph : (each paragraph should address a specific aspect
of the argument, present evidence, and may include counter arguments.
4. Conclusion (restate the statement slightly differently to reinforce the
central argument)
We can find example of argumentative text in : academic researches,
newspaper, or personal essays
Some characteristic are:
- it uses facts, reasons , and evidence
- it uses a vivid language
- it calls to action
Language Feature:
- Modal verbs - rhetorical questions
- Emotive words - passive voice
- Evaluative language
- Conjunctions
- Declarative statements
