T1: Teppy got 2 years teaching experience, age: 24, sex: female
For Teacher:
1. Tell us about your first impressions after teaching in English for the first time. Do You like it or do
the students like it?
She felt excite because it was her first experience. By the way, everything was very surprising
for her as it made her feel overwhelmed since she never taught before even the students were
kids and seemed easy to teach, yet it required professional skill at that time she didn’t have that
much training and lack of skills.
2. Could you tell me your pre-learning experience? (Ex: Did you have enough training before
teaching in English?)
She thinks she didn’t have much training. She just went to observe in the class and try to get
more recommendation from other or feedback to develop herself.
3. Could you describe your feeling when it comes to teaching?
It is quite toxic, stressful, tiring, and sometimes it felt discourage for the first time back then.
But when she developed some skills of teaching, she gained more courage when she noticed the
students’ development taught by her.
4. What are the difficulties of your teaching?
The ability of managing the classroom and preparing the lesson. Because it needed skills to
do all those jobs for her.
5. Overall, could you describe your teaching experience? (like it or not why?)
She said she liked it because it was a good experience and she could learn a lot form both-
herself and her workmate. She felt motivated and courage to continue.
For students:
1. Can your describe your learning experience at university?
It was very stressful, tiring, complicated, joyful and funny at the same time. Because there
were many assignments, homework, quiz, overloaded works, so she needed to work hard and
put more effort in order to complete the requirement of each subject.
2. Between good and bad marks which one motivate you to study more? Why?
She thinks it is both. Because good score showing good sign that her works are paid off. But
when it comes to bad marks it encourages her to try more. For example, if she saw her score is
not good but the other got better, so she felt motivated that she should work more and put
more effort. So that she doesn’t feel disappointed to what she had done. When she saw good
score she thinks satisfied.
3. Do you feel like homework improve your achievement when learning in class?
She thinks it is some. Because some homework is useful. It sharpen the skills, grammar, the
learned lesson, so the homework apply to the lesson and make her see what is right or wrong in
the methods or skills that were already taught by teacher.
4. Have you even felt discourage in learning when teacher scold you for mistake instead of
correcting you?
She said yeah, of course. Umm… getting scold by your mistake is what she tried to avoid the
most. It made her think that she doesn’t improve at all. But if we come back to our sense, reflect
back and ask why? Try to look for the mistake and overlook. After the reflection, we will find it
out.
5. What do you do when you don't understand the lesson or tasks?
She needed to read it again. If still couldn’t understand, she will ask her friend and then will
go to teacher. She will ask instantly if she doesn’t understand the lesson in the class but ask
according for clarifications.
T2: Pheavy got 2 years teaching experience , age: 22, sex: female
For Teacher:
1. Tell us about your first impressions after teaching in English for the first time. Do
You like it or do the students like it.
She said that she thinks that she like it and she think that her student might
feel the same because she noticed they enjoy learning from her. Especially, when
she explains the lesson they can get it. They can understand what she was
explaining.
2. Could you tell me your pre-learning expereience? (ex: Did you have enough
training before teaching in English?)
To be honest, she said she had never got any teaching training before being a
teaching. She just passed the interview, get experience from her first class. She
just explore it along the ways.
3. Could you describe your feeling when it comes to teaching?
So…yeah at that time, she felt mixed, anxious and a bit excited. Like, she can’t
tell that her student understands what she was explaining or saying or not. Was
she good at explaining, transfer her knowledge to them?? It made her feel
anxious at that time. But now, she thinks that she got used to it. She still feel…
teaching doesn’t make her feel bore and she thinks she enjoying being a teacher.
4. What are the difficulties of your teaching?
The fist one is about preparing the lesson because it needs time, esp, grammar
lesson. We need to spend more time to prepare. And one more thing is to deal
with students when they don’t concentrate on the class. Sometimes, it drives her
frustrated.
5. Overall, could you describe your teaching expereince? (like it or not why?)
She think she like teaching. She likes sharing the knowledge like the tips of
every day living. Besides the lessons that she teaches every day, she usually
adds some kind of life lesson like helping parent, don’t play phone too much,
eat healthy food things like this. This is what she really love of teaching. One
more thing, she thinks teaching is fun when students can get what she
teaches and transfer to them. They got the message and say that teacher I
want to learn with you one more term that bring her good feeling.
For students:
1. Can your describe your learning experience at univeristy?
Umm… she think that she was not a work hard student. However, she always
tried her best for up coming test or assignment. She felt responsible when it
comes to group work. She tried her best. But she felt that she does not prepare
much or feel lazy for every class and procrastinate the works sometimes.
2. Between good and bad marks which one motivate you to study more? Why?
The good marks motivates her to work more. Because the good score form
the test makes her feel that her work hard is paid off, so she would try as the
previous time. So that she will get the same good score. For the bad score, she
felt really discourage. It made her over thought and have no inspiration to keep
her work up. She does not think bad score motivate her to study at all.
3. Do you feel like homework improve your achievement when learning in class?
Yes, sure. She said homework does improve her achievement when learning in
class. Like homework make her review the lesson that have learn. But if no
homework provided, it will just keep her not learn the lesson and do other things.
Homework inspires her to review the lesson and understand the lesson well.
4. Have you even felt discourage in learning when teacher scold you for mistake
instead of correcting you?
Yes, sure. This really make her feel discourage. She has already tried, yet
instead of encouragement teacher blamed her. It is really bad and make her feel
bad. She really does not like it.
5. What do you do when you don't understand the lesson or tasks?
Okay…if she does not understand the lesson, she would go to her friend to
help explain it like to help her out or run to her trusted friends. Asking teacher
or go to ask teacher directly at the spot is the last choice for her and she
rarely asks teacher in the class.
