Introduction

• Artificial intelligence is a technique that enables computers to

mimic human intelligence.

• As humans we can see things, analyze it and then do the required

action on the basis of what we see
Applications of Computer Vision

Facial recognition

• Most important application is Security

• Examples: Phone lock screen, home visitor recognition etc.

Applications of Computer Vision

Face filters

• Instagram and snapchat have a lot of features based on the usage

of computer vision.

• The application of face filters is one among them.

• Through the camera the app is able to identify the facial

dynamics of the person and applies the facial filter
Applications of Computer Vision

Search by image

• Interesting feature of getting search results through an image.

• This uses Computer Vision as it compares different features of

the input image to the database of images and give us the search
result
Applications of Computer Vision

Computer Vision in Retail

• Track customers’ movements through stores, analyze navigational

routes and detect walking patterns.

• Inventory Management is another such application to generate a

very accurate estimate of the items available in the store

Basics of images
Basics of images

Pixels

• The pixel is the basic unit of programmable color on a computer

display or in a computer image .

• Usually a round or a square

Basics of images

Resolution

• The term resolution refers to the total number of pixels in a

digital image .

• For example a monitor resolution of 1280×1024 means there

are 1280 pixels horizontally, and 1024 from top to bottom.

• This means there are 1280 pixels from one side to the other ,
and 1024 from top to bottom

• 5 megapixel camera

• Since a megapixel is a million pixels - Total pixels taken by the

camera equals 5 million pixels .

AI, ML & DL

Machine Learning (ML)

• It is a subset of AI which enables machines to improve at tasks

with experience(data).

• The intention of Machine Learning is to enable machines to learn

and make accurate Predictions/ Decisions.
AI, ML & DL

Deep Learning (DL)

• Machine is trained with huge amounts of data which helps it in

training itself around the data.

• Deep Learning is the most advanced form of Artificial Intelligence

out of these three.
AI Domains

With respect to the type of data fed in the AI model, they can be
broadly categorized into three domains:
AI, ML & DL

Data Sciences

• Domain in which the system collects lot of data sets and derives
meaning/sense out of them.

• The information extracted through data science can be used to

make a decision about it
AI, ML & DL

Data Sciences

• Domain of AI that enables a machine to analyze visual

information and make some predictive decisions about it.

• Input to machines can be photographs, videos and pictures from

thermal or infrared sensors, indicators and different sources
AI, ML & DL

Natural Language Processing(NLP)

• Attempts to extract information from the spoken &

written words.

• The ultimate objective of NLP is to read, decipher, understand,

and make sense of the human languages.

WhatsApp about purchasing a new phone

What happens next?

•After the discussion, the smartphone

starts showing the recommendations to
buy a new phone.

•The shopping websites show

notifications related to branded phones.

•They show and urge Rahul to buy a new

phone.
Data Privacy

Privacy:

• Human behavior and activities can be tracked in in ways that were

unimaginable earlier.

• AI systems need huge amounts of data in order to be trained.

• In many cases data involves individual faces, medical records, financial

data, location information etc.
Data Privacy

• More than 70% of the data collected till now has been
collected in the last 3 years

• It is not wrongly said that Data is the new gold.

• If one does not want to share personal data with anyone,

they can opt for alternative applications and keep your
data private.
Why are the virtual assistants

AI Bias

• Machines are artificial and cannot think on its own.

• It can have intelligence, but we cannot expect a machine to have

any biases of its own.

• Any bias can transfer from the developer to the machine while
the algorithm is being developed.
AI Access

• Since Artificial Intelligence is still a budding technology, not

everyone has the opportunity to access it.

• The people who can afford AI enabled devices make the most of
it while others who cannot are left behind.

• Because of this, a gap has emerged between these two classes of

people
AI Access

AI creates unemployment

• AI enabled machines will replace all the people who work as

laborers.

• On one hand where AI is advancing and improving the lives of

people by working for them and doing some of their tasks
