Minor Project Report

1. Project Introduction
Book-Kart is a website made for students to buy, sell, and donate their textbooks
right on campus. The goal is to make learning materials cheaper and easier to
get while helping the environment by reusing old books.

2. About Project
This platform solves a problem: the high price of new textbooks and the waste
when students just throw them away. It creates a safe place for students to talk
and trade books without needing a middleman.

3. Objectives
Primary:

 Build a campus-specific book old book selling platform

 Reduce textbook costs
 Provide secure buyer-seller communication
 Enable PDF (digital) book sharing

Secondary:

 Easy categorization & filtering

 User trust via profiles & ratings
 Promote eco-friendly reuse
 Simple, responsive user interface

4. Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
We used the Agile Model for this project. This means we worked in small steps
(sprints) to build and fix features quickly:

1. Planning: Figuring out what students need.

2. Design: Making the website look clean and easy to use.
3. Coding: Using React and Supabase to build the actual site.
4. Testing: Checking for bugs and making sure the chat works.
5. Deployment: Putting the site live on Vercel.

5. Software Requirements
 Frontend: [Link], Javascript, and Tailwind CSS.
 Backend: Supabase for the database, user login, and file storage.
 Tools: VS Code for writing code and GitHub for saving it.

6. Hardware Requirements
 Processor: Intel i5 or Ryzen 5 (or better).
 RAM: At least 8GB.
 Storage: 256GB SSD.
 Internet: A stable connection of at least 5 Mbps.

7. Use Case Diagram
 Student User: Can sign up, list books they don't need, search for books
to buy, and send messages to sellers.
 Admin: Can manage users, delete inappropriate listings, and check site
stats.

12. Testing
We did three types of testing to make sure everything works:

 Form Testing: Making sure you can't upload a book without a title.
 Auth Testing: Checking that only logged-in students can message sellers.
 Responsive Testing: Making sure the site looks good on both phones
and laptops.

13. Future Scope

 Adding a Payment Gateway so students can pay online.
 Creating a Mobile App (Android/iOS) for easier access.
 Setting up Delivery Services for students who can't meet in person.

14. Conclusion
Book-Kart is more than just a website; it’s a way for our campus to be more
helpful and sustainable. By making books cheaper, we help every student
succeed.
