CHAPTER 4
ESTIMATING AND SCHEDULING OF THE BAILEY BRIDGE
4.1 General
Estimating is to determine the probable amount of cost needed for the bailey
bridge. Detail estimate is used for calculating the required amount of materials and
labour. Detail estimate is divided into four components such as details of measurement,
builder’s estimate, bill of quantity and abstract of cost. There are many different types of
method to take out estimate in details of measurement. Builder’s estimate is used the rate
of analysis to determine the amount of materials and labours needed for the bailey bridge.
Bill of quantities is to described the cost of materials and cost of labours. Abstract of cost
is to describe the quantities, rate and cost of each item.
This chapter also includes resource planning of the bailey bridge, Estimate of the
existing bailey bridge is done firstly because the estimate can be identified the quantity of
required resources for each of the activity. Detail estimate of the existing bailey bridge is
calculated based on design specification, detailed drawing and the labour charges and
material charges are taken from local rate of 2024-2025 budget year. Planning of
Manpower and construction material for each activity are determined based on the
Builder’s Estimate and Bill of Quantity.
4.2 Details of Measurement
The method of taking out estimate is used out to out and in to in method in details
of measurement. Details of measurement for Pier 1,2,3&4 are described in Table 4.1 to 4.
