Lecturer and Researcher in Religion, Theology, and Cultural Studies

Dr. Ravinjay Kuckreja is a scholar of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Eastern

Philosophy whose work bridges theology, anthropology, and Balinese cultural
studies. A graduate of the University of Chester (B.A. in Theology and
Religious Studies), IE University in Madrid (M.A. in Marketing and Corporate
Communications), and Universitas Hindu Negeri I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa
(Doctorate in Religious Studies), Ravinjay has spent over a decade living and
working in Bali, researching the intersection of religion, ritual, and identity in
the Sanskrit Cosmopolis.

Currently a lecturer at Institut Nalanda (Jakarta) and several theological institutions across Indonesia, he
teaches courses in Hindu and Buddhist studies, philosophy of religion, and manuscript traditions. His
teaching also extends to yoga philosophy and Dharmic studies through online and in-person programs.

Dr. Kuckreja’s research focuses on textual traditions and the reinterpretation of religion in modern
contexts. His studies on Balinese and Indian manuscripts, indigenous religions in Sumatra, and the
evolution of Hindu identity in Indonesia have been featured in academic journals such as Religio: Jurnal
Studi Agama-Agama, Penamas, and the Journal of Bali Studies. His book Ilmu Teologi Agama Hindu:
Dharma Tattwa (Nilacakra Publishing House, 2025) consolidates his insights into Hindu theology for
modern scholarship.

Festival, Bali Spirit Festival, and the International Conference on Indigenous Wisdom—Ravinjay
frequently moderates and speaks on themes such as interreligious dialogue, yoga philosophy, and
Balinese theology. He is affiliated with the Center for Dharmic Studies (Indonesia), the Association for
Southeast Asian Studies (UK), the American Academy of Religion (USA), and the Kawi Society
(Indonesia).

Beyond academia, he engages in digital scholarship through two platforms: Being Bali, an
English-language podcast exploring Balinese culture with over 10,000 plays, and Bahas Agama, a TikTok
channel with more than 50,000 followers and 300,000 views, promoting religious literacy and pluralism.
