3. The perimeter of an equilateral triangle is 24 cm. Find its area.

4. If one root of the quadratic equation 2x² + 5x + k = 0 is -1, find the value of k.

5. Write the coordinates of the centroid of a triangle whose vertices are (0,0), (2,0), (0,4).

Section B (2 Marks each)

6. The following distribution table shows marks obtained by 10 students:


Marks: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25
No. of Students: 2, 3, 1, 2, 2
Find the mean marks obtained.

7. Find the value of k if the quadratic equation x² + kx + 6 = 0 has equal roots.

8. The curved surface area of a cylinder is 1760 cm². Its height is 20 cm. Find the radius.

9. The probability of guessing the correct answer to a certain question is 1/4. If 80 students
attempt the question, how many are expected to answer it correctly?

10. Construct a histogram for the following data:


Class Interval: 0–10, 10–20, 20–30, 30–40, 40–50
Frequency: 5, 10, 7, 8, 5

11. Find the roots of the quadratic equation x² - 7x + 12 = 0.


12. A card is drawn at random from a well-shuffled deck of 52 cards. Find the probability of
getting:
(i) a red king
(ii) a card of diamond
(iii) neither an ace nor a king

13. Find the area of a triangle whose sides are 15 cm, 13 cm and 14 cm.

14. The sum of the first n terms of an arithmetic progression is Sₙ = (n/2)(3n + 5). Find its
10th term.

15. Draw the graph of y = 2x + 1. Also, check whether the point (1,3) lies on the line or not.

Section D (4 Marks each)


(5 questions × 4 = 20 marks)

16. The following table shows the daily wages of workers in a factory:
Daily Wages (₹): 100–120, 120–140, 140–160, 160–180, 180–200
Number of Workers: 12, 14, 8, 6, 10
Draw a histogram and a frequency polygon.

17. A cone of height 24 cm and base diameter 14 cm is melted to form spheres of diameter 7
cm. Find the number of spheres formed.

18. Solve for x: (1 / (x-2)) + (1 / (x+3)) = 1/6.

19. A die is thrown twice. Find the probability of getting:


(i) an even number on the first throw and a multiple of 3 on the second throw
(ii) same number on both throws
(iii) sum of numbers greater than 9
(iv) at least one 6

20. A solid metallic sphere of radius 7 cm is melted and recast into small cones, each of
radius 3.5 cm and height 7 cm. Find the number of such cones formed.
