What is the Aim of the activity?
● The primary aim of this activity is to help your child identify/recognize numerals 1 and 2 using different
things like vegetables, socks, dough, etc.
● Your child will be able to count the objects.
● Your child will indirectly learn the names of vegetables/fruits.
● This activity helps your child develop his/her pincer grip.
● This activity helps your child to understand the concept of soft and hard.
● This activity also helps your child to enhance his/her visual sense.
● Your child will be able to sort/match the socks.

Points to observe:
While your child is working, please observe the following:
● Is your child able to recognize numerals 1 and 2?
● Is your child able to count the vegetables?
● Is your child able to form patterns using vegetables?
● Is your child able to sort the socks?
● Is your child able to understand the concept of hard
and soft.
● Is your child able to recognise and colour the number
1 & 2.

Activity 1: Materials required:-
Few Number cards with numbers 1 and 2 Pen/Marker/Crayon
written on it. You can make it using paper
chits and marker or cut it from calendar
Two types of vegetables
with different colours that
are available at home. ( you
can also take fruits, socks,
colour popsicle sticks).

Activity 1: Patterning using numbers 1 and 2
Steps to follow :
● Take one tray and keep the vegetables (here we have taken carrot and potato)
and number cards with 1 and 2 written on it.
● Place the tray on a mat or a table and sit along with your child.
● Take the number card with ‘1’ on it and ask your child to recognise the number
and say the number aloud. (child can trace the numbers with 2 fingers if
interested)
● Take the number card with ‘2’ written on it and ask your child to recognise the
number and say the number aloud. (child can trace the numbers with 2 fingers if
interested)
● First put one carrot on the mat and ask the child to count. If your child says,’
one’ then tell a child to recognise the number card and place it under the
vegetable (carrot).
● Then put two potatoes and tell him/her to count. If your child says,’ two’ then
tell a child to recognise the number card and place it under the vegetable
(potato).
● This way make a pattern using vegetables and number cards by continuing with
the activity till your child is interested.
● Once done, guide your child to put back the material in its place.

Activity 2: Materials required:-

Activity 2: Sorting of Socks
Steps to follow:
● Put the at least two sets of socks in the basket and number card it
the tray.
● Place the tray and basket on a mat or a table and sit along with your
child.
● Show the number cards and ask your child to identify the numbers.
● Place the Number card 1 on top of the mat. Say, “This is one”
● Put your finger on the single sock and say”one”. Pick the single sock
and place it below 1 number card.
● Similarly, place the number card two and count and place socks.
● Repeat the same for other pair of socks.
As an extension of this activity, you can keep three or more sets and
encourage your child to sort the socks according to the number.

Activity 3: Reinforcement of number 2 using hard and soft objects
● Take two basket and mention number 1 & 2 on the baskets as
shown in the picture. Ask the child to recognise the numbers and
say it aloud.
● Now take a few hard and soft objects like stone, cushion, glass, Soft
soft toy, cotton, sponge, etc in a tray/ plate.
● Ask your child to put 1 hard object in the basket marked with 1.
Encourage your child to feel the objects and put any one hard
object into the basket. Then you ask your child to put 2 soft
objects in the basket marked with 2.
● Continue playing this activity till your child is interested.
Hard
● You can also do this activity by alternating it 1 soft object and two
hard objects .

Activity 4: This activity is to help your child to count and recognise the number 1 & 2. Ask your child to count and point to
the number. Pictures below can also be used to classify as hard and soft objects also. Talk to your child regarding hard and
soft objects in and around your house. Note: Kindly replicate the below activity in a booklet and ensure that your child circles the
appropriate number. Once done, please take an image of the same and upload it in the submit section of the assignment. If you are
using the G Classroom Mobile App. Kindly open this file in the edit mode available in the top right hand corner. Using the pen tool circle the
numbers that should come in the space provided as indicated by your child. At the end of the presentation save the same and hand it in.

Activity 5: This activity is to help your child recognise
numbers 1 & 2. Ask your child to colour the number ‘1’
in yellow and number ‘2’ in brown and complete the

picture.
Note: Kindly replicate the activity with in a booklet
and ensure that your child colours accordingly.
