Formal Email/Letter
1. You have received an email from Henry Lee, who is asking for
absence from his job at your company. Read part of his email
below.
As we discussed yesterday I would like to request a formal leave
of absence from my job. I plan to be away for one month. I know
at this time of a year; the company is very busy. So if you
approve, could you tell me the most suitable time that I should
leave?
Is there anything that I need to do before I stop my work for a
month? I am a new employee, so I would be glad if you tell me
how I contact my colleagues and provide help while I am away.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Write a reply letter to him. You should write at least 120 words.

Dear Mr. Lee,
Thank you for your email which I received this morning. I am so
sorry the hear that you requested a formal leave of absence from
your job for a month. I am writing in response to your enquires.
You could take a one-month leave from 15 February to 15 March.
This is the most suitable time because our company will be much
busier from the second half of March.
Before you leave, you need to do several things. First, prepare all
necessary documents and put them on the table so that your
colleagues could take them easily. Second, do not forget to note
down the work you have not finished yet. The reason is that I
could give it to other people to complete.
In case we need your help, your colleagues would contact you via
email. You do not have to worry about that.
If there is any information you need, please contact me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely yours,
