Star-Delta Resistance Conversion Guide

The document provides a detailed explanation of star (Y) and delta (Δ) resistor configurations, including their connections and conversion formulas. It outlines the mathematical relationships between the resistances in both configurations and presents examples for converting delta networks to star networks and vice versa. Additionally, it includes specific examples with calculations to illustrate the conversion process.

Resistors connected in Star/Y:

In a star or Y connected system, three resistors are connected in such a way that each end is
connected together to form a junction ‘N’ and the other ends are left free.

Resistors connected in Delta or Phi:

In a Delta or Phi connected system we have three resistor. The resistors are connected in such a
manner that the second end of the first resistor is connected to the first end of the second
resistor, the second end of the second resistor is connected to the first end of the third resistor
and finally the second end of the third resistor is connected to the first end of the first resistor.
